It's Friday, which means it is time for a new sketch at My Scraps and More! This week, we got to work with this great multi-photo sketch by Tammi:
I made this layout about a birthday party for one of our friends' kids that our girls got to go to.
It was a pirate themed party, and while I know there are some cute pirate lines out there, I don't have a ton of use for them, so I made do with what I had in my stash. The wood grain made me think of the planks of the deck of the ship, the boats, some splatters, and of course, the skull and cross bones. The splatters are a stamp that I stamped in Versa Mark and then used navy embossing powder. I included the invitation on the page as well in a pocket that I created using adhesive between the blue and brown layers. I let the top poke out as a design element.
The skull and cross bones are from a grunge board set. I painted it with white acrylic paint and then rubbed a little Versa Mark on it, sprinkled on the silver embossing powder and heated it. I ran out of space on my first journaling tag, so I needed to find another that coordinated. The one I found was the right color, but had a snowflake in the corner, thus the piece of tape. ;)
To make the appearance of water for my fussy cut boats to sail on, I tore some cardstock and then dry embossed. To ground these clusters further, I used a strip of tape. Besides the sketch, I was also inspired by the 3/3 Mix It Up Monday challenge at My Scraps and More. The challenge was to use the color blue, a punch ( I used a border punch across the top), and do some fussy cutting.
