Happy Birthday- Sketch Saturday #455

Hello and happy Monday! I have a card to share today. I started with last week's sketch from Sketch Saturday:

I got a chance to go to my local scrapbook store (which is about 20 minutes away) and I picked up a few colors of the new Distress Oxide Inks. I decided to play with those a bit on my card. I started by blending Faded Jeans into the background cardstock and then used a wood grain mask and Iced Spruce on top of that. I then sprayed and splattered water over the background for some more interest and texture. I stamped the reindeer on a scrap piece of cardstock and used watercolor pencils and a water brush to color it. I used the water brush and some more of the Faded Jeans ink to paint the sky. I stamped the sentiment and then snipped a bunch of pieces of ribbon to place next to my image.

I am also entering this in the CASual Fridays No Dies Allowed challenge this week.

52 Week Photography Challenge- Spring

I'm on time this week, woot woot! The prompt for this week was Spring. It is still pretty gray around here, but I noticed that my chives are starting to poke out of the ground. We also had some rain this morning, so I got out there before it all dried up and captured some water droplets on the chives.

Christmas Joy

Hello! I hope your week is going well! I have a layout to share today. I started with this sketch from Creative Scrappers:

I used the sketch for the left hand page of my two page layout and made it work with the size and shape of my photos. I then realized that the photos that were left over could be shaped into a Christmas tree shape and it echoed the step pattern of the papers on the left hand page!  I started the page with a mask and spray ink and placed it in a few page around my layout. I then matted all of my photos on various patterned papers from Shimelle's Christmas Joy collection. I loved the circle paper and decided to fussy cut a bunch of the circles to spread around my page. Some are attached with regular adhesive and some are attached with foam adhesive for some depth.

I was also inspired by the March 1 challenge at Colorful Creations, which was to use the color scheme below and ink.

I was almost done with my layout when I decided the brown wood circle needed a little something. I pulled out a snowflake stamp and stamped it with Versamark and then heat embossed it in silver.

52 Week Photography Challenge- Books and Green

I am a week behind on posting photos for the From Moments to Memories 52 Week Photography Challenge. I just didn't have anything last week for the prompt books. This week a got a shot of my oldest daughter (who is a complete bookworm) reading a book.

This week's prompt was green. It's pretty brown around here, but we found some green at the zoo earlier this week and a white cheeked gibbon that was only too happy to pose. ;)
And the list again (honestly, it is so I don't have to go back very far on my blog to find the next prompt):

Birthday Girl

Hello! I have a layout to share today! I was inspired by the challenge this week at Bitten by the Bug: Birthday Bash. I used a couple of cuts on my layout. First, I used the flower background cut from "Edge to Edge". I layered that over a piece of white cardstock that I had colored with Gelatos and water. I used a few bits and pieces of patterned paper, but not a ton, because I had lots of photos to fit on the page. I also cut the title piece using the "Storybook" cartridge. I used the inner part of the black frame for my embellishment cluster on the right edge of my page. A few fussy cut polka dots, stickers and chipboard pieces finished off the layout.

Thanks for stopping by!

School Time

Hello and Happy Friday! I have a layout to share today. I made this layout for my older son's scrapbook. I was inspired by this sketch from Stuck?! Sketches:

I loved the four circles and stuck with that, but put photos on all of them. I added captions to my photos as my journaling. For the background, I used a Heidi Swapp mask and some spray ink on cardstock. I used lots of OLD stuff on this layout. the stickers are from an old BoBunny school collection. The chipboard is from an old Fiskars set. The current challenge for Another Freaking Scrappy Challenge is to use chipboard and something old from your stash, I definitely did that here! It always feels good to use some of that stuff that has been sitting around for a while.

52 Week Photography Challenge- From Below

I'm posting this a little late again this week. I had ideas for this prompt, but the opportunities didn't arise for me to take the shots I had in mind. So I started thinking about what I could take a picture of in my home. I've done the inside of my fridge. We have a couple of ceiling fans that I considered, and then I noticed the light fixture in our entry and decided to work with that.
Not too bad for last-minute, after the deadline...

Golden Birthday Party

Hello all! I have a new scrapbook layout to share today. There are so many great sketches out there these days, but most are single page sketches and I have lots of photos which requires two page layouts. I decided to use one of those sketches for one of my pages and making the second coordinate.

For my layout today, I started with this sketch from Lasting Memories and the prompt that the page be about a birthday celebration:

I used the sketch for my left hand page.  I stuck fairly close to the sketch, but used larger, non square photos. I also moved the title because I wanted a longer title.

I started my layout with cardstock and used a mask and Distress Ink to create the dots on the background. I then layered on some patterned paper and my photos. The current title challenge at Paper Issues is to use bling on your title, and since this is a page about my daughter's golden birthday party, I used some DIY Thickers and gold glitter. I then decided to add some gold ink splatters in a couple of areas of the page. I embellished my page with various pieces from several companies that I have had in my stash for quite some time.

Thanks for stopping by and checking out my latest work!
