Celebrate!

Hello! I have a card to share today that I made last week. I started with this sketch from CAS(E) this Sketch:

I was also inspired by the photo at The Card Concept:

I used a fairly clean, mixed media style for my card. I was inspired by the shutters behind the bouquet, so I used an embossing folder on my background panel. I also loved the black and white pattern on the handle of the bouquet, so I used a background stamp and black ink on my white card base. The rose was stamped using an Altenew set. At this point, I noticed the feathers in the photo, so I used a feather stamp and fussy cut the feathers to tuck behind my rose. I finished of the card by stamping and heat embossing the sentiment on some white vellum and making some dots of black glitter glue.

52 Week Photography Challenge- Weeks 22 and 23

Hello! So much for staying caught up! I have two of my photos here to share for the last couple of weeks.

First up is week 22: Eyes. We took a family vacation to the Black Hills last week. I had seen an article about a photographer who photographs weddings by photographing images reflected in people's eyes (I'm not explaining that well at all...). I wanted to try to get the reflection of Mount Rushmore in my daughter's eyes, but the lighting wasn't right. There were some pretty cool clouds that you can see in her eye though.

Next up is Week 23: Friends. My kids can be the best of friends and get along great and then other times, not so much. They had lots of opportunities to play together over the course of our trip. Here are three of my kids climbing the dunes in the Badlands.

Two Cards- Mojo Monday

I have two new cards to share today that I created from this week's Mojo Monday sketch (the last one!):

I made two masculine cards with this sketch. I stamped the background panels with Versamark ink and sentiment stamps for the birthday card and definition stamps for the Father's Day card. The patterned paper is bits and pieces for a 6x6 stack that I have almost used up. For the sentiment panel, I stamped the background image, dried it and then stamped and heat embossed the sentiment. I finished off the card by inking the edges of the sentiment panel and the card.

Happy Anniversary- CAS(E) This Sketch and Altenew

Good morning, I have another card to share. This time I made an anniversary card inspired by this week's sketch at CAS(E) This Sketch:

This month's color and image inspiration from Altenew also came into play:
June 2017 Inspiration Challenge – White On White Focal Point

I was inspired by the technique in this post by Jennifer McGuire to make the flowers. I have to say, this technique was very challenging. I had trouble getting clean images because the stamps slipped on the vellum. Then I had trouble with not leaving enough space around the edges so I had to restamp some images a few times. So, while I am pleased with the results, this isn't a technique I will be trying again soon!

I stamped the leaves directly on the background along with the sentiment. Unfortunately, the sentiment smudged when I did the pick inking, so I stamped the sentiment on vellum and heat embossed it before layering it over the smudges sentiment. I finished off the card with some pink ink splatters.

Wedding Card- Sketch Saturday #466

Hello! I have a card to share today. I started with this sketch from Sketch Saturday:
I used a few different patterned papers for my background. I stamped and heat embossed the sentiment and image on vellum. I used a few shades of blue ink and smooshed in on the back of the vellum. I finished it of with Liquid Pearls.

I was also inspired by the current challenge at CAS-ual Fridays which is to use patterned papers.

Finally, I am entering this in the current challenge at Another Freaking Scrappy Challenge which is to make a project for a wedding.

52 Week Photography Challenge- Weeks 20 and 21

Hello! I'm finally posting my photos for weeks 20 and 21, which means I am caught up! I'm thinking this week's prompt should be fairly easy, so I should be able to post my photo for this week this weekend.

First up is week 20, which was Something Old. I struggled a lot with this one. We spent Monday at my sister-in-law's dad's house on the lake and that's where I was able to take both of these shots. I believe this piece was once a baby crib, but I may be wrong. They have put a piece of plywood across the bottom to make it a bench for when they want to sit around the fire.

This was also shot at the lake house, this time on the dock by the lake. The prompt for week 21 was leading lines. I used the railing and the siding to lead to eye to the little flag.
