Zoo Camp

Hi all! I have another new layout to share! This one also has a certificate that I had to work around. 

I again started with the certificate and the photos and arranged them in the center of my page. I pulled out Shimelle's Never Grow Up collection and used the dandelion paper and the wood grain paper and added strips under photos. I used my Cricut to cut the title. To add some dimension, I cut the word "Zoo" from chipboard and adhered my patterned paper and cardstock letters to that. For my journaling, I ended up using the background packaging from a set of embellishments that went with the Never Grow Up collection. I wrote on it with a Sharpie since it was glossy. 

I didn't have much for coordinating embellishements, so I ended up pulling out an old Creative Imaginations collection and fussy cutting the animals from a sheet of patterned paper. I added some enamel dots and the flamingo sticker from another collection for a different pop of color in the dead space created by the certificate.

Preschool Certificate- Scrapping Memorabilia

Hello! I have a quick layout to share today. It came together very quickly because I allowed the fcoal point be the certificate my daughter received at her preschool graduation. 

I started with the certificate and a coordinating color of cardstock. I decided to double mat the photo of my daughter with the certificate to make it stand out. I added a couple of photos from the program. I used the certificate as a pocket to hold the program from this evening. For some depth, I used my Cricut to cut a star border in coodinating colors to run behind the program. I had a few extra stars from the border, so I added those on top of my main photo. I finished my embellishing with some puffy stars and word stickers.

When I make layouts like this, I feel like I need to do more, but then remember that sometimes the photos and memorabilia speak for themselves. Here is a photo with the program pulled out a bit more to give you a better idea of the pocket.

(Mostly) Monochromatic Cards

Hello! I have a few new cards to share today, all for different occaisions! First up is a birthday card. I started with this sketch from Sketch Saturday:

I was also inspired by the color palette from The Card Concept:

I started by taking a piece of bright green cardstock and used an embossing folder. I rubbed a darker green ink pad over the embossing folder so the debossed areas would be a different color. Once I ran that through my embossing machine I took it out of the folder to dry. I stamped the circle pieces and heat embossed the dark brown with clear powder. I dug through my stash for a dark green piece of papaer that went with the dark green on my card, I cut a strip and adhered it to my card. I set that on my white card base and the white was too stark, so I took the pale yellow ink pad and rubbed it over the edges of my card so they would match.

For this card, I used a turnabout stamp for the background. I first stamped it with white pigment ink, turned it 180 degrees and then stamped it again. I dried the ink with my heat gun and then stamped it in the other two directions with white pigment ink and then poured pearl embossing powder over the stamping and heated it. I stamped the candle in white and used the same pearl embossing powder on vellum. Then I stamped the sentiment with Versamark and embossed it it silver. To attach the vellum, I ran a line of adhesive on the top and bottom of the back of my card front and then folded the ends over. This way there is no visible adhesive.

Finally, for this sympathy card, I used an embossing folder on smooth purple cardstock. I took an ink blending tool and rubbed white pigment ink over the raised parts. I then took my finger and pressed it iinto a gold ink pad and rubbed that over the centers of the flowers. Once all of that ink was dry, I stamped and heat embossed the sentiment. To soften the edges of this card front, I rubbed a Versamark pad over the edges and heat embossed them with the pearl embossing powder. I finished the card off with a bow of fiber twine across the bottom.

April Calendar page- Stick It Down guest designer

Hello! I'm here today with my April calendar page. I'm a little early with this one because I was chosen to be the guest designer for March at Stick It Down. I got this fabulous 2 page sketch to work with:

I broke up one of the photo spots to fit an additional photo, otherwise I stuck pretty close to the sketch. I started my layout by layering the patterned papers and photos. I used stamped journaling spots for my journaling. My title was cut using my Cricut. To embellish the page, I used die cuts, stickers, wood veneer pieces (that I colored using a gelato), and pearls. This is one of those layouts that uses products from several collections and companies. I love mixing and matching like this sometimes!

Science Museum Field Trip

Hello! I have a new layout to share today. I had these six photos from a field trip I chaperoned for my daughter's class several years ago. I had printed them small enough that I was able to easily fit them onto one page. I matted them with patterned paper. I had the pink cut apart piece floating around in the bag with these papers and placed it between the bottom two photos. I decided to cut a similar sized piece of lined patterned paper for my journaling. I cut my title with my Cricut and used some letter stickers to complete it. To embellish the page, I used some stickers, rub ons and puffy stickers. 

 I am entering this in the current challenge at Lasting Memories: add an animal to your layout. I used a couple of bird stickers and there is a little ladybug on the cut apart piece, and there is a mammoth in one of the photos.

March Calendar page- Stick It Down

Hello! I finally have my March calendar layout to share. I started with the February double page sketch from Stick It Down:

I started my layout by using a mask and spray inks to make the stone patterned across by background. Once that was dry, I layered the patterned papers and photos over the top. I typed up and printed my journaling strips and added them to the photos and the extras I adhered to a tag. I used my Cricut to cut the title and leaf embellishments. I embellished the page with some chipboard pieces, buttons, ribbon, washi tape, pearls, and a few phrase stickers. March is a very transitional season here is Minnesota with lots of mud, so I felt these subdued colors worked well.
