August Calendar Page- Stick it Down

Hello! I have my August calendar page to share today! I ended up using the June Double Sketch from Stick it Down:

I used October Afternoon's Summertime collection for my papers and much of my embellishment. I typed up my journaling and cut it into strips, one of my favorite techniques for these month in review layouts. I moved the bulk of my journaling to the top left corner because there was more space there. I finished off my layout with some die cuts, buttons and enamel dots.

Materials:
Cardstock- Michael's, Bazzill
Patterned Paper, sticker, die cuts, badge- October Afternoon
Rub Ons- Making Memories
Enamel dots- Simple Stories, October Afternoon
Buttons- October Afternoon, Oriental Trading Company, American Crafts, other
Ribbon- Michael's, Fiskars
Pens- Sharpie, Uniball Signo
Font- Calibri

Disney On Ice- Scrap Our Stash

Hello! I have a scrapbook page to share! I've had these photos sitting for a while and finally felt inspired to scrap this photo-heavy layout. The technique for this month's Try It Tuesday challenge at Paper Issues was to paint scrape. I used some gesso and teal metallic paint where I was going to put the photos of my daughter and the title and journaling.

To embellish this layout, I was inspired by the Scrap Our Stash Tic Tac Toe challenge:

I used the left column: number (there are numbers on the tickets), chipboard, and striped paper.

Materials:
Cardstock- American Crafts
Patterned Paper- Moxxie
Paint- Liquitex, Martha Stewart Crafts
Glitter Glue- Ranger
Ink- Stampin Up
Flowers- The Paper Studio
Paper clip- Fynmark
Chipboard- Sandylion
Brad-Making Memories
Stamp- Fancy Pants
Pen- Sharpie
Software- Craft Edge
Fonts- Elsewhere BRK, Waltograph

52 Week Photography Challenge- Week 29

Hello! I am here today to post my photo for week 29! This week's prompt was Close Up/Macro. It has been raining off and on here all day. After the most recent shower, I grabbed my camera and headed outside to see if I could get some photos of my flowers with water droplets on them. I was successful! Here is my photo:

Here is the list of the prompts if you would like to play along:

Happy Happy Birthday- Fusion Card Challenge

I have another card to share tonight. This one was inspired by the current challenge from Fusion Card Challenge:

I needed to make a masculine birthday card, and I thought this was a great place to start. I used a mask and Distress Ink and inked my card base in coordinating colors. The sentiment was stamped and heat embossed. I then put all the pieces together. I finished it off with a metal brad and some twine to make it look like a sign.

Thanks So Much- Stick It Down Card Sketch

Hello! I have a couple of cards to share today! First up is a thank you card I made last week based on the July card sketch at Stick It Down:

I started by stamping the flowers and butterflies on my white card base. My original plan was to do a very basic card with the stamped background and a sentiment on  some vellum, but after I finished the stamping, I felt like the card needed more, so I went looking for patterned paper that would go with the colors I had stamped. This is not the usual order I do things, but it wasn't too hard. I found two papers that worked a some ribbon and attached them to my card front. I finished it off with a stamped sentiment.

My second card wasn't based on any challenges, I just played a bit with a new technique. I started by spreading Distress Stains in Abandoned Coral, Picket Fence and Mermaid Lagoon on an acrylic block. I sprayed that generously with water and then pressed it onto my water color paper panel. I ended up doing this a couple of times to get the saturation that I wanted. I printed my sentiment on vellum and immediately heat embossed it with silver powder. I added some die cut stars and stamped stars to the front of the card to finish it off.

52 Week Photography Callenge- Weeks 24-28

Holy smokes, I really let this one get away from me! I'm here to post my photos for the prompts from the last MONTH!

Week 24- Food- Part of the reason it has taken so long for me to post this is this prompt. I just photograph food! Except the cakes that I decorate... This past weekend was my son's birthday so I decorated this cake for him with a Chima Lego character, Laval.

Week 25- Summer- Around here, one of the surest signs of summer is playing in the water. Two weekends ago we got to go play in a friend's pool for the afternoon.

Week 26- Rule of Thirds- We went to the Children's Museum last week with family. This is my nephew playing with these lights that light up when wet.

Week 27- Freedom- Fireworks are big on the 4th of July so they have become associated with freedom. Also, Minnesota used to be much more strict about the fireworks that people could have, so the fact that we can enjoy our own fireworks is a sign of freedom.

Week 28- Sun- While this photo was taken inside, I love the back lighting from the sun coming in the huge windows of this room in the Children's Museum.

There you have it! I hope I can make these posts a little more regular again!

Stick It Down- July Double Page Guest Designer

Hello all! I earned a spot as a guest designer for Stick It Down with my May double page layout. On Friday my July page went up with the new double page sketch for July!

I usually use red, white and blue for my July spreads, but this year decided to go for fun, bright, summery colors. I didn't have two pieces of the same patterned paper to go over the two pages, so I made my own with cardstock, a mask and spray ink! I like the subtle pattern that creates. This page is pretty busy with all the photos, so it needed a very basic background. I cut the banners from an older Simple Stories collection. I also used some stickers and chipboard pieces from the same collection. I realized that some (even older) Basic Grey rub ons also when with the colors of my layout, so I added those as well. I typed and printed out my journaling and cut it into strips.

Materials:
Cardstock- American Crafts, Georgia Pacific
Patterned Paper, stickers- Simple Stories
Chipboard- Simple Stories, KI Memories
Rubons- Basic Gray
Mask- Crafter's Workshop
