June Calendar Page- Stick It Down

Hi all, I have a new layout that I've been working on for a few days to share! I got my June page done early this month since I had the photos ready. I once again used the Stick it Down double sketch:

I was also inspired by the Pinspired challenge at Paper Issues:

I started with white cardstock and used a mask and some yellow mist to make my background. Then I found some patterned papers to go with the colors from the inspirations piece. I layered my photos over that. I had some trouble coming up with something big to layer on the left side and ultimately decided to hand stitch a flower I cut the title using my Cricut and then outlined it in black to make it stand out on the layout. I finished off the layout with embellishments from various collections. I am trying to use the ephemera I have kept, so I layered my race number behind the photo from the 5k I did.

32 Weeks- Sketches in Thyme

Hello! I was able complete another layout this weekend! This time I was inspired by the week's sketch at Sketches in Thyme:

I stuck pretty close to the sketch, but added some embellishment below the row of ultrasound images. I used lots of bits and pieces froom various places and kits to put together this layout. I used some hearts for the Lasting Memories shape challenge this week.

This is the last set of ultrasound images to scrap from this pregnancy, so I'm hoping this baby will make his/her appearance soon! Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Mother's Day

Hello! I have a card to share today! I actually made 4 of these, one for my mom, one for my mother-in-law and one for each of my grandmas. I was first inspired by thes Distress Oxide Water Painting technique, which I used on the stamped panel of the feet on the bottom part of the card. 

I then used the same colors to ink up my background stamp and to ink up my die cut sentiment. For the sentiment, I cut it using my Cricut and the Holiday Cakes cartridge and then blended to ink on it while it was still stuck to the mat with the negative space around it. Then I pulled it out and put it on my card. I decided it needed something to make it stand out from the busy background, so I used my Cricut and the Walk In My Garden cartridge to draw and cut the posy. I attached the sentiment to the flower and used foam tape to attach the flower to the front of the card. I finished it off by adding Diamond Stickles over the sentiment to give it some sparkle.

Hello Water

Hello all! I have a new layout to share! We are at the point we are just waiting for this baby to make his/her appearance, so I figured I would get some scrapping done! I had printed this photo collage a while back, so that where I started. 

I was inspired by two challenges for this layout: the rainbow challenge in the Scrapbook Like a Superhero group on Facebook and the Girls Rule the World challenge at Paper Issues. I had fun adding these bright and colorful papers and embellishments to my layout. I had saved the portion of patterned paper with the word "hello" on it and I decided it would work great on this layout. I covered the word with Diamond Stickles and added another word and some small embellishments around my title.

Two Cards- One Concept

Hello again! I have a couple more cards to share. This time I was inspired by the inspiration image at The Card Concept:

As you can see, I used this image as a sketch as well as for the colors. The first thing I saw was the beautiful big flower. Then I noticed the texture of the blinds and curtains and decided to mimic that in my cards. I used embossing folders for the larger areas and some twine to mimic the lines of the curtains. As you can see from the cards below, there are different ways to interpret the inspiration piece! The style of these cards definitely fall in the "clean" category, I'm not so sure if it is clean and simple or clean and graphic though....

Birthday Cards with Galaxy Backgrounds

Hello again! I have a couple of new cards to share. I tried a new technique on these that was pretty fun. The technique is using Distress Oxide Inks to make a Galaxy Background.

I followed the technique in the above ink pretty closely, but also added some gold ink splatters to my background. For the card on the left, I stamped the person, which was a little boy in a swim suit with water wings and goggles. The attire didn't quite go with what I was going for, so I took my versamark pen after I had heat embossed it the first time and filled it in and heat embossed it again. It actually took a few layers to get it to how I wanted it. I also struggled a bit with the embossing powder sticking to the ink splatters even though they had been heat set and I had run my anti-static tool over it. The other card is for my niece whose birthday is later this month. That one turned out a little neater. This is definitely a technique I will play with more.

 Hello, I have a new card to share today. My godson is celebrating his First Communion this weekend so I needed a card for him. I started with the current sketch at Sketch Saturday:

For my background, I used alcohol inks on a piece of vellum. I used a couple of blue colors, gold mixative and some blending solution. I once again used the "New Testament" cartridge to cut the chalice. I accented that with some gold Liquid pearls. The sentiment was stamped and heat embossed on a scrap of vellum.
