Wild Things

Hello! I have a new layout with lots of photos to share! When I was trying to figure out what papers to use, I came across this cute hedgehog paper and decided to use that. When I figured out that two strips would fill in between my rows of photos perfectly, I was really excited. To tie the two pages together, I used a strip on my left hand page too. I found a coordinating paper to go behing the photo at the top. Then I went to work with a cut apart sheet. I cut the strip of stars and the tags across the bottom. For two of the tags, I cut off the bottom couple of inches and ended up punching scalloped circles from them to use by my title. I embellished my page with stickers, buttons, glitter enamel dots, and Nuvo drops. I used my Cricut to cut the title. I cut the word "Wild" from black cardstock and chipboard to add some thickness. I went around the outside of the chipboard with a black Sharpie to make the edges blend better. Once it was on the page, I wanted it to have just a little more oomph, so I squiggled Black 3D paint over the letters which gave it some fun texture and shine.

I'm entering this in the Studio Challenges "Inspired by a Song" challenge. I was inspired by the title of the song "Wild Thing."

Happy Birthday card

Hi again! While I still had my supplies out from my May calendar page, I decided to make a card! I was inspired by the current challenge at Fusion:

And also the current board at the Tic Tac Toe challenge:

I stuck pretty close to the sketch and you can see some inspiration from the colors on my card. I used the center vertical column from the Tic Tac Toe board. I used my Cricut to cut the three flowers from white cardstock and then inked them with Distress Oxide inks in coordination colors. I added a strip of lace for a soft element and some gems in the center of my flowers to finish off the card front.

Thanks for checking out my card!

May Calendar Page- Stick It Down

Hello! I have my May calendar page ready to share! I started with this sketch from Stick It Down:

I started by choosing photos for the suggested photo spots. I once again packed a bunch into the strip on the second page. As I was thinking about the design, I realized I could fit some more into the squares on either end of the page. One of the things we did last May was to go to the Arboretum. We had taken a bunch of photos of the flowers and trees there. I used the squares as an opportunity to show off some of the close up photos we took. Once I had my papers, photos and journaling in place, I worked on embellishing. I used my Cricut to cut the title (Did you know they added an "offset" feature that allows you to make a shadow/outline of anything you make? It is awesome!) The blue wasn't standing out very well against the wood grain paper, so I outlined it with a fine tip black pen. I fussy cut a buch of flowers from some of the patterned papers. I then layered those and stickers around my page. I finished my clusters off with some pearls and pink Nuvo drops.

I am also entering this in the "Lasting Memories" flowers and tags challenge.

First Communion Card- Stick It Down

Hello again! I have my last card to share that I made this past week! This one is a First Communion card for my son and our goddaughter (I made two). I started with the card sketch from Stick It Down:

I put my Cricut to work on this card, cutting the chalice and host. For the chalice, I used a couple of colors of metallic cardstock and layered them. I cut a circle from off white cardstock and used my scoring board to make the cross in the middle. I then went through my scraps to find some coordinating pieces to make the background. I really liked the circle patterned paper, so I made two of the three banners along the bottom from vellum so it wouldn't cover up much of the design of the paper.

Happy Birthday- The Card Concept and Sketch Saturday

Hello again! I'm back with another card today! For this card, I pulled inspiration from The Card Concept and the sketch from Sketch Saturday:

I worked with the colors if the inspiration photo to make a pretty spring birthday card. I used the other embossing folder I bought a while back for my background. I then attached it to a pre printed card that was the right orange color. I stamped my sentiment on a piece of subtly patterned paper that I then matted on orange cardstock. I took some gold twine and tied a bow around the sentiment panel. For the bottom border, I found a piece of lace in an off white color. I finished off the card with some gold Liquid Pearls.

Happy Birthday- Tic Tac Toe Challenge

Hello, I have some new cards that I will be sharing over the next few days! First up is a birthday card I made for my niece who turns 5 later this week. I used this week's board from Tic Tac Toe Challenge to inspire my card:

I used the center row- layers, free space and coloring. I started by making my background using a Concord and 9th Turnabout stamp. I stamped the pink, green and blue with regular Distress Inks and then stamped the purple with Distress Oxide and sprinkled it with glitter embossing powder for some sparkle. I heat set the powder and then went to work on the rest of my card. I stamped and then colored the carousel horse with Gelatos and a water brush. I punched that out in a circle that I layered over a scalloped circle punched for blue glitter paper. I took a piece of rainbow ribbon and ran that across my card front and attached my stamped sentiment strip to that. I finished off the card with some white and blue irridescent sequins.
