Hello! I am back today to share a layout I completed this weekend. I started with this sketch from My Scraps and More:

I entered a scrapbook layout in the Minnesota State Fair for the first time in 2011 and, not only did I win my division, I won first overall! This is a page featuring my layout and ribbons. Yes, a scrapbook page about a scrapbook page. :)

I started with some gold paint and pink glimmer mist and added some splatters to my page. Then I layered some old patterned paper scraps under my photos. I was also inspired by the 10/1 Throwback Thursday challenge in the My Scraps and More forums. The challenge was to use old paper and at least one of something you have been hoarding.  I have quite a few flowers, so I pulled those out and added them to my page. I also have a pack of Little Yellow Bicycle transparency pieces that have been just sitting in my stash. The colors went well with this layout, so I used a few of those on my page as well. Some gold washi tape and enamel dots finished off my page.

Chalk Art- My Scraps and More Sketch #113

Hello! I have a layout to share that came together very quickly this weekend.  It started with this fun sketch by Audrey at My Scraps and More:

I was also inspired by Got Talent Challenge #4 which was to start with a piece of plain cardstock and not use any patterned paper, only ribbon and washi tape for the background. As you can see, the sketch worked well with this challenge. I started by spraying and splattering my cardstock with yellow and pink spray inks. After those were dry, I went to work with some washi tapes. I wanted to add some dimension, so I used some ric rac as well for my background.  I used some stamps and chipboard letters for my title and a variety of embellishments around my page.

Wee Faith- My Scraps and More Sketchathon

Hello! I am here today to share a layout I just finished.  There is a sketchathon going on now at My Scraps and More for the entire month of April. I used sketch #21 by Lisa Spiegel for my layout: 

I have had these photos sitting around waiting to be scrapped for a while and this sketch worked perfectly with them! I used lots of October Afternoon on this layout. 

The most labor intensive part of my layout was the title. I used my Cricut, Sure Cuts A Lot with two different fonts, and the New Testament cartridge. After I had everything put together, I added some glitter glue to a couple of the letters.

I did a little layering of elements near my title. The cross was cut using the New Testament cartridge. Part of the reason I bought this cartridge was all the different styles of crosses, two of which I used on this layout.

I used some old rub ons on this layout too.  I was a little nervous that they wouldn't rub on well anymore, but they worked fine! I cut my journaling stickers and used the smaller pieces in my clusters. I used a date stamp on this one.

Play to Learn

Hello!  I have another layout to share! I don't know what to say, I've been inspired lately! I started today's layout with this sketch #102 (by Ashley Horton) from My Scraps and More.

My interpretation is a little looser that I usually go with a sketch, but I think you can still see the sketch in my layout (even if my 6-year-old doesn't). ;)  I was also inspired by the 3/20 Friday Free for All Challenge at My Scraps and More. The challenge was to use new and old stash, wood veneer, and stickers. I used some Echo Park "Little Boy" (old!) and Bella Blvd "Tiny Tots" (new) for my papers. I started with a pieced of patterned paper for my background.  I took a circle mask and a blue Gelato to make some circles.  I then added some white and green ink splatters.

I used a sticker from one of the visits as an accent on my page. Since we were going with circles here, it worked perfectly! 

I colored some of my wood veneer pieces with the same blue Gelato I used on my background.  I colored the pieces and then blended the color with my finger.  I used a combination of letter stickers and die cut letters for my title.  I finished off my page with some orange buttons.

Fusion Card Challenge- Welcome Baby

Hi ! I am back with a baby card I made for a friend who just had a baby. I was inspired by this week's Fusion Card Challenge. The challenge is to use the inspiration photo and/or the sketch.

I was inspired by by both.  I used the bow tie concept from the photo and the sketch for the overall design.  I made my own bow tie with some ribbon that I wanted to use.  I cut the circles with my Cricut. I used some clear iridescent embossing powder to add some sparkle. I then backed each of the circles with some scalloped circles punched from vellum. I stamped the background with some grey ink.

My Scraps and More Sketch #100- Comfortable?

It's Friday, which means another sketch reveal at My Scraps and More.  Sadly, this is my last one as part of the design team.  I have really enjoyed the last year of working with the fabulous sketches and ladies on the design team there! Here is this week's sketch:

I made a layout about how I found my older son sleeping when he was a baby.  This was shortly after he figured out how to get himself to sitting.  I'm not sure if he couldn't figure out how to lay back down or if he was fighting sleep.  

I used my Cricut and the Tags, Bags, Boxes and More 2 cartridge to cut the clouds.  I used Sure Cuts a Lot for the title work.  I added texture to the clouds by dry embossing them. I was also inspired by the 2/3 Tuesday Trigger challenge on the My Scraps and More forums.  The challenge was to use at least 6 hearts on your layout.  I pulled a couple of different kinds of chipboard hearts from my stash for this layout.  I colored the Heidi Swapp resist ones with some Distress Ink and Gelato.

My Scraps and Mores Sketches #99- 9 Months

Hi all!  I am here today with a new layout based on this fun sketch by Audrey:

I decided to pull out the 9 month picture I took of my youngest.  I used the Bella Blvd. "Tiny Tots" collection for the papers and embellishments.

I started my layout with a sheet of kraft cardstock.  I used a mask and some modeling paste to make the stars.  I added a couple of kinds of red glitter to the stars while they were still damp.  I pressed the glitter into the paste, but I ended up going over all of the stars with some Mod Podge to seal in the glitter a little better.

For the title, I mixed sticker letters from the collection with die cut letters. I cut the letters with my Cricut and the "Boys Will Be Boys" cartridge.  I decided that corner of the layout needed some more blue, so I cut the burst (which is the flower part of the sunflower cut from "Stretch Your Imagination") to go behind the 9.

I layered some stickers and tape in the top left corner.  I used a couple of different thicknesses of foam tape to attach the star stickers for some added interest.

Isn't it fun? It isn't technically my week to do a layout, but I had to do something with this sketch! I made a Halloween layout for my older son's album. I used papers from Bella Blvd, and October afternoon.

I made this cute little puppy with my Cricut and the "Doodlecharms" cartridge. I was also inspired by the 1/5/15 Mix It Up Monday challenge on the boards. The challenge was to use patterned paper, enamel dots, and a die cut.

My Scraps and More Sketch #97- Sisters

Hello and Happy New Year! There was a new sketch posted on My Scraps and More today! This week, we have this fun sketch by Audrey:

I made a layout for my younger daughter's album of my two girls together.  I'm behind, so these photos are all from almost 4 years ago!

For the papers, I used some October Afternoon Woodland Park that I picked up at their warehouse sale a couple of months ago.  It is an older collection, but it is so pretty, I couldn't resist. I fussy cut several butterflied from one of the patterned papers. I also did a little stamping, with the hearts and scrolls. 

Included in the brad pack was this cute little tag that I stamped and added some eyelets to. For a couple of my butterflies, I used Stickles to create the body.

I cut the title with my Cricut. I brushed a bit of paint behind the title to make it stand out more.  I used Stickles for the butterfly trails as well.

My Do It- My Scrap and More Sketch #95

It's the first Friday of the month, which means a new sketch at My Scraps and More! This week's sketch is brought to us by Audrey Yeager:

As you can see, I stuck pretty close to the sketch.  I added another photo, and reduced the angle a bit. most of the papers and embellishments are from the Scrapbook Circle kit I received several months ago. This layout came together so quickly! I think the combination of the fun sketch and the already coordinated elements in the kit really helped.  I debated what colors to go with because there are A LOT of different colors going on in the photos. I am really glad I settled on the pink, black and white color scheme because it doesn't compete with all the other color going on.

My Scraps and More Sketch #93- My Prayers

 Hi all!  Wow, it's been quiet around here!  I have been so busy taking and editing pictures and just doing life, that I have had no time for creating or blogging!  I am back today with a layout created with the new sketch on the My Scraps and More Sketch blog. Here is the sketch, created by Audrey:

 Since it was a single photo sketch, I decided to do another prayer page for one of my kids.  This time for my second oldest, using her 4-year-old portrait (she just turned 6!).

I got to check out the October Afternoon warehouse sale last month and I picked up these beautiful Daily Flash Apple Cider papers.  I saw the tree paper on their blog and knew I had to have it!  I ended up fussy cutting a few of the trees as embellishments.  I also fussy cut the pie charts from another sheet of patterned paper. 

I found some old Hambly rub on frames that worked well with the patterns and used those over some stamped leaves to add some interest.  I used a couple of different foam adhesives to give different pieces some lift and dimension. I hand wrote my prayers on strips of paper that I edged with some distress ink.

I have a couple of cards I have made and I am working on my calendar page for November, so hopefully I should get back into this blogging thing a bit! Make sure you head over to the My Scraps and More Sketch blog and check out what everyone else did!

I have a couple of cards from last week and the week before that I never shared.  The first is one that I made using Tracy F.'s sketch from the My Scraps and More blog hop from last weekend.

I had just received this fun washi tape by Pinkfresh Studios, so this sketch was the perfect way to show it off!  I really let the tape shine by adhering it to a black background.  I heat embossed the sentiment.  I also heat embossed the die cut number charms before stringing them on to my bow.

For my second card, I was inspired by this sketch from a few weeks ago on Case this Sketch:

Again I used some washi tape and some patterned paper scraps for the the strips.  The sentiment was cut and then I outlined the letters to make it more readable.  I used some Liquid Pearls for the frosting on the cake.

And now let me share my sketch and card with you:

I made a shower card for a friend who is adopting a baby at the end of the month.  I tried a new ink blending technique for the dots.  I used a circle mask and then blended Distress Ink onto the paper using an ink blending tool.  I took a second color to add some shading to my circles.  I think it turned out pretty cool, I will definitely be trying this one again! I then added some patterned paper circles, washi tape, a few eyelets and a die cut sentiment.

The Piggy Bank Story- My Scrap and More Sketch #91

It's the 3rd Friday of the month, which means a new sketch at My Scraps and More!  This week, we have this fun sketch by Nadine:

I decided to scrap the story of how I had to paint this piggy bank for my daughter twice because the first one broke in the kiln.  I realized while I was pulling papers for this layout that my supply of brightly colored patterned paper in dwindling!  Everything on this page is scraps!

For the circles, I used my large Creative Memories circle cutter as a template and drew around it with a pencil.  Then I took the pump from my purple Glimmer Mist and drew the circle with that and added some splatters.  Once that was dry, I erased the pencil.  I decided I wanted a little more dimension so I pulled out some purple dimensional paint and made some circles and splatters with that as well.

I was also inspired by the 9/1 Mix It Up Monday challenge on the boards.  The challenge was to use at least 5 patterned papers, do some fussy cutting and some paper tearing.  I fussy cut my star embellishments and tore the edge of the bright green patterned paper  on the left side of the layout.

First Haircut: My Scraps and More Sketch #90

Hi all!  Happy Friday to you!  This past week, I saw three of my four children off for their first days of school.  Needless to say, it has been busy around here! I did get a little scrapping time in early in the week and I worked with this great sketch by Audrey:

Getting going on this layout took a while because I spent way too much time looking for the hair I saved from this haircut.  Unfortunately, it never turned up. :(  This is the kid who is missing his certificate from the hospital with his footprints on it.  I'm feeling a little guilty here...

Anyway, here is what I came up with.  The 8/19 challenge on the boards was to choose at least 3 patterned papers and use them to fill holes left by die cuts.  I cut 5 of the circle on this layout out of the blue polka dot paper.  I attached the patterned paper to the yellow cardstock background.  To give the blue paper some lift, I used some chipboard around the edges and a few spots in the middle (instead of foam tape, it's cheaper!).  

You can see in the photo above, the lift is pretty subtle, but adds a bit of dimension.  I added some more dimension with my embellishments. 

I cut the word "haircut" with my Cricut and Sure Cuts A Lot. The banner border across the bottom is Heidi Swapp and I colored it using Distress Inks.  I turned out a little darker than I had planned, but I think it looks okay anyway.
