April Calendar Page- Stick It Down

Hello, can you believe it's almost April!? I have my calendar page for April ready to share, just is time! I started with the sketch from Stick It Down:

I needed a few more spots for photos, so instead of the four photos on the right hand page, I made a photo collage. I moved the title to above my photos since I placed my photos a little lower. My title is chipboard letters that didn't match, so I covered them with matching patterned paper- it's a quick way to make what you have work! This is a great sketch to use with scraps since you don't need a lot of each paper. I typed my journaling and printed it and the cut it into strips. To embellish the page, I fussy cut a bunch of flowers from the floral pattered paper I used on the right hand page. I tried to connect them to flowers in the paper to make it look like the flowers were growing up over my photos. I attached some of the flowers with foam adhesive for a bit of dimension. To finish off the page, I used light green Nuvo drops and made some swirls and dots around my page. I had a little mishap and set my hand in some wet drops and then set it on the family photo under my title. We are currently out of printer ink, but I will replace it when we get the ink.

Thanks for stopping by to check out my layout!

Happy Birthday- Stick It Down

Hi all! I have a card to share today! I started with this sketch from Stick It Down:

I got a couple of new embossing folders recently and decided to try this wood grain one first. It is a 3D folder, so the texture is amazing! I stamped and colored the owl using watercolor pencils. I ran a water brush over the coloring quickly to blend it without making the stamping bleed too much. I then cut out the owl with my oval cutter. I inked the edges with blue Distress Oxide ink. For the background, I splattered some green and grey spray inks. While they were drying, I stamped the sentiment on a strip of cardstock as well as the leaf. I colored the leaf with colored pencils. Then I assembled all the pieces on my card front!

Standing Strong for Christ- Sketches In Thyme

Hello, I have a new layout to share today! This layout started with a sketch, but I ended up not following it super closely. Here is the sketch from Sketches in Thyme:

I liked the diagonal cut across the bottom, so I started there. I have quite a few smaller pieces of patterned paper, so I made the sketch work with what I had. I had the photos printed as a collage and so I matted that with a coordinating patterned paper. For my title, I mixed rub ons and Cricut cut letters. To embellish may layout, I fussy cut some flowers and tucked them in a few places. I also used a few stickers and more rub ons. To finish everything off, I added some silver Nuvo Drops.

The Evolution of a Zoo Goer

Hi all! I'm back again with a new layout! This one started as an inspiration challenge from Paper Issues:

This album cover was so fun, I just had to do something with it! I started by finding four photos that I could run across the bottom of my layout. I then picked four colors of patterned paper for my strips, inspired by the colors in my photos. I then went to work with my Cricut and Design Space to make my title. I loved the block letters on the album cover, so I used that and then found a basic sans serif font for my connecting words and a written style font for the rest of my title. I got a tab punch recently and used that for my journaling spots on the layout. Then I went to work embellishing. I didn't find a ton of animal embellishments in my stash, so I turned to my Cricut again. I picked some animals to match my colors and cut them from coordinating cardstock. Some of the animals I attached with foam tape for dimension. I finished things off with a sprinkling of buttons, enamel dots and dots of black 3D paint. My Cricut definitely got a workout on this layout, so I am entering it in the "Anything Goes" challenge going on now at Bitten By the Bug 2.

Play All Day

Hello and Happy March! The weather has been beautiful here, but I have found time to do some scrapping. I have a new layout to share today! I started with this PageMaps sketch from last March:

I found the dot paper in my stash and it went so well with the colors in the photos that I decided to work from that. I found some other papers with colors that coordinated. This layout is a hodge podge of manufacturers and old and new products. The tags and die cuts are things I have had in my stash for probably close to a decade! I used my Cricut and a free Paper Issues cut file for my title. I found and old transparency in my scraps and decided to use that to bring some extra interest to my title area.

Thanks for stopping by to check out my layout!
