OCIA Cards

Hello! I have a few cards to share today that I made for the card ministry at a local parish. These cards are for people who are receiving one or more sacrament of initiation ( Baptism, Eucharist, and Confirmation) in the next month.

For my first pair of cards, I started by stamping the crosses on white cardstock with black ink. I then colored in the flowers. I then took a piece of white cardstock and ran it through an embossing folder. To highlight the texture, I blended some ink over the raised areas of the design. I then used some gold foil cardstock to back the cross and to stamp my sentiment onto.

For my second pair, I actually made these at different times, so they are slightly different. I started both by stamping and coloring in the cross. For the first card, I had dot textured cardstock that matched the blue I had colored the cross, so I used that for my background. To add more interest, I stamped the script background stamp in dark blue ink. The piece of cardstock was smaller than what I needed for a full background, so I matted it with gold foil cardstock. I matted the cross and sentiment that I stamped on vellum with dark blue cardstock. For the second card, I had regular smooth cardstock so I did the stamping first and then ran it through an embossing folder. Instead of matting with gold, I created a frame to layer over the background.
