I Feel the Love- July

I am here today to share my card for the July I Feel the Love Project.  This month we are making cards for a  4-year-old little girl named Mariyah who was born with hypotonia and had been recieving treatment since she was 1.  In April of this year she fell ill and has been in the hospital, receiving treatment since then.  We are making cards to brighten her day.

I made this card using my Cricut and the Playtime cartridge.  I outlined both die cuts and did a bit of doodling on the princess sign.  Light pink crown and top were cut from Core'dinations cardstock, dry embossed and sanded to bring out the pattern.  I added some glitter for some fun sparkle as well.

Nuts About Sketches #276

A new sketch was posted today at Nuts About Sketches.  It is a single pager:

I stuck very close to the original sketch.  I used Fancy Pants products for this layout and entered it in the Fancy Pants/ Gossamer Blue Guest Design Team search.  I used "Hopscotch" papers and pulled out some older rub ons, buttons, felt and stamps.  I couldn't find any letter stickers that were the right size for my title, so I turned to my Cricut.  I used the "Tear Drop" cartridge with the "dropless" feature.

Nuts About Sketches #275

Today is Monday, which means a new sketch was posted at Nuts About Sketches.  This week's sketch is a two pager with lots of spaces for photos.  

I used this sketch for my monthly Project 12 layout.  I stuck pretty close to the layout, only splitting one of the photo spots into two.  I used some My Mind's Eye Collectable patterned papers.  I love the vibrant colors in this line!  To mimic the spirals in the floral paper, I cut the circle using my Cricut.  They are actually a letter "o" that I sized to fit my photos.  The left side will be displayed on our calendar for the month of August.

Nuts About Sketches #274- Christmas Card 2009

Yesterday was the reveal of a new sketch at Nuts About Sketches.  This week it was a single pager with room for two photos.

This was one of those rare instances where I reduced the number of photos and just put one, our Christmas card from a few years ago.  I did not use a Christmas line of paper for this layout because the colors didn't work with the Christmas papers I have.  I ended up pulling out the Basic Grey Porcelain collection and working with that because the colors matched so beautifully.

Scrapping Everyday Miracles July Sketch Challenge

It is the third Monday of the month which means it is time for sketches at Scrapping Everyday Miracles.  The first sketch is a card sketch I put together and the second is a layout sketch by the very talented Shawn Lahr of Nuts About Sketches.

I stuck pretty close to the sketch for this, the only variation being the strip of washi tape that I ran between the squares and large strip of patterned paper.  I punched the scalloped circles from patterned paper and added rub ons as needed.  I finished them of with some gems.

I was working with limited supplies on this one, so I got creative with the Bo Bunny Noteworthy pad.  I cut the notepad side off of a sheet and added it on the right side of my page and cut the bracket side and used it at the bottom.  I layered quite a few things in the bottom corner; paper, stickers, trasparency and a gromlet.  My journaling is on a transparent journaling spot.  I smeared white acrylic paint on the back so that the writing would stand out against the background and to give the feeling of snow.  Finally, I did a little stamping and embossing to add a few snowflakes to the background.

Ready to see the awesome Grand Prize for the hop...

Today I am sharing a birthday layout I made of my oldest daughter's 4th birthday.  I used the very fun Fancy Pants Hopscotch collection.  The colors of the floral paper went perfectly with the colors on her cake!  

I used one of the banner pieces for an embellishment cluster in the bottom left corner.  I layered some stickers and a chipboard piece over it.  To make it stand out more against the pink gingham, I matted the yellow banner piece with the darker pink paper.  I also stamped the swirls for some added interest.

I used Sure Cuts A Lot to cut the title.  To add some sparkle, I traced over the "4th" with liquid glue and sprinkled it with glitter.  I also made some glitter "splatters" around the title.

Last Cards of the Month!

We've reached the end of the crazy month filled with birthdays and anniversaries!  I have two last cards to share today.

The first is a birthday card I made using the current sketch at Cardabilities.

I stuck very close to the sketch, using Echo Park For the Record 2.  I am really loving the colors of that collection! I fussy cut the doily and the scallop border.  The border was actually cut from the cut-off strip that shows the pattern on the other side, it was the perfect size!  The flowers and the pearl were the last of the package- woo hoo for using up product!!

For the second card, I used this week's sketch at Unscripted Sketches to make a card for my son who turned 3 today!  

My son requested a "lion eating a zebra" for decorations on his cake this year.  He has been obsessed with that subject for quite a while.  He is really into animals in general (he spends a lot of time acting like an animal too), so I went with that theme for the card (as did a few others who made homemade cards for him). :)  The Cricut cut is from the Paper Doll Dress Up cartridge.  I used some Core'dinations cardstock behind the lion boy and dry embossed it and then sanded it to reveal the inner core.  The sentiments down the side are rub ons that I placed on circles I had cut from cardstock.  

In case you were wondering, this is how I decorated his cake.  :)
