Chitty Chitty Bang Bang

Hello! Today I have another dance layout to share! I was inspired by Day 4 of the 12 days of Christmas challenge at Paper Issues- 4 word title, 3 accent papers (I went over on this one), 2 photos and one sheet of cardstock (or I went over on this one, depending how you count it). 

I started with the black and blue color scheme and cut the two large blocks of patterned paper and used a border punch to create the strip across the bottome. Then I looked up the movie poster for Chitty Chitty Bang Bang to get some further inspiration as to how to embellish the layout and the title was red and yellow. I decided to go with orange and yellow and add them to my layout. I cut the car with my Cricut, as well as the title. I found a chipboard frame for my journaling and then finished the embellishing with a little phrase die cut, puffy stickers, washi tape, some silver brads, and black gems.

 

Happy Anniversary card- Sketch Saturday

Hello, I have a new card to create today! I started with this sketch from Sketch Saturday:

I found the yellow patterned paper scrap in my stash and it was the size of a card front. I trimmed part of it off. I used the part I trimmed off as a pattern for the cardstock pieces down the side. Once I had all of those adhered to the card front, I realized I had attached everything backwards (the card opened to the left). I pulled up the patterned paper panel and just flipped it over. That is why my card is flipped from the sketch. I then added the daisy ribbon, stamped and heat embossed the sentiment and created a little flag. To add a little more interest to the front of the card, I used some pink Nuvo drops and gold Liquid Pearls to go over some of the dots in the heart.

 

Scott County Fair

Hello and Merry Christmas! The festivities are winding down here so I thought I would jump on and share this layout I made the other day. I had six photos to scrap and I wanted to try to get them on one page. I decided to make a grid design to cut down on the busy-ness. I found the cute journaling card and mounted that on a large piece of patterned paper and then arranged my photos and cut some more patterned paper block. I used my Cricut to cut the title. I used punched for the banner and mounted the pieces on foam tape for dimension. The speech bubbles were fussy cut from a sheet of patterned paper. I kept the embelllishments simple with some puffy stickers.

 I entered this in the 1st day of Christmas challenge at Paper Issues- use one piece of cardstock on your layout.

Shake It Up- Sketches In Thyme

Hi all! I'm back with another layout! I was inspired again by at Sketches in Thyme sketch:

I scrapbooked some more dance photos of my oldest daughter. You will be seeing lots of these layouts, she is graduating in a year and a half, and she wants this album done for graduation! 😱 I started by searching my stash for papers that went with the colors of this costume since they were so bright! Once I gathered those up, I cut them into wedges and arranged them behing my photos. For my title, I used my Cricut and a piece of paper I had created a while back and cut the letters. I found the orange tag in my stash and wrote the details on there. I wasn't quite the right orange, so I added some yellow Stickles gel over it to see if that helped- it didn't. I ended up finding the orange puffy stickers and adding those around the page to bring the orange in a few other places and make it look like it belonged. A few die cuts, a transparency phrase, and some sticker "sequins" completed the layout.

 

Life Is Better at the Lake- Sketches In Thyme

Hello! I have been busy making scrapbooking pages! First up is a two page layout that started with this sketch from Sketches In Thyme:

I took the sketch and turned it 90 degrees to the right to make it work with the direction of my photos and so I could stretch the banner across both pages. I worked again with the September kit from The Scraproom. I cut the title using my Cricut and then embellished my page with die cuts and enamel dots from the kit. I also found a few items from my stash to fill in. Once everything was down, I decided I wanted more interest across the bottom. Initially, I was going to ink waves, but then I pulled out this stone mask and used some modeling paste (that I colored with some Distress ink and spray ink) to make ther stones across the bottom of my layout. I wanted them a little darker, so once the paste was dry, I used a blending brush and Walnut Stain Distress Ink and rubbed the ink over them.

 I am also entering this in the Lasting Memories "CAMPERS" challenge, use some thing for each letter of campers- Cricut, American Crafts (cardstock), Mask, Paste, Enamel Dots, Ric Rac (the blue squiggle on the right hand page looks like ric rac), and Sketch.

January Calendar Page

Hello! I just finished my first calendar page for 2024! Can you believe we're less than two weeks from the New Year?! I started withe double page sketch from Stick It Down:

I started the layout by stamping and heat embossing snowflakes on my cardstock background. The heat embossed snowflakes are a little hard to see as they are white pearl and pale blue with sparkle embossing powder. I then dripped and smooshed some light blue ink over the snowflakes. Once all of that was dry, I adhered my photos and patterned papers. This sketch lends itself well to using up scraps as I used mostly strips of paper on this. I stamped journaling lines in the upper right for my recap of the month and added strips to my photos for captions. I used my Cricut to cut my title from shimmer cardstock in a coordinating color. For embellishments, I used stickers, a brad, glitter enamel dots, and puffy stickers.

Happy Birthday

Hello, I have a new card to share today! I was inspired by the Tic Tac Toe Challenge board from a couple of weeks ago: 

I went with the bottom row- Free, embellishment, and die cut. I started my card by using a mask and some Distress Oxide inks to ink the circles on the background. Then I used my Cricut to draw and cut the present. I used a metallic pen to color the ribbon on my present. I stamped and fussy cut the sentiment banner before attaching it to my card. I felt the card needed something between the present and sentiment, so I used a strip of washi tape. To finish off the card, I glued on a sprinkling of sequins.

 

Dan Patch Days- Take 2

Hello again! I have another new layout to share. My kids have COVID, so I'm hiding in my craft room to try to avoid it so I'm getting some scrapping done!

This layout started with this sketch from Paper Issues:

I started by trimming my photos to 3x3 so I could make a single column on my page. I then found the paint stripe patterned paper. I trimmed that down to create the illusion of the frame suggested by the sketch. I decided to add some smooshing of the same colors down the right side of the photos so I went to work finding ink colors in my stash that matched my patterned paper. The little swatch book I made a while back was very helpful here because I was able to match the stamped color to the patterned paper. I ended up with a mix of inks from Distress, Stampin Up, and ColorBox. I am very happy with how well they ended up matching the colors of the patterned paper. While that dried, I fussy cut the circles, hearts and popcicles from patterned paper from this collection. I punched the flowers and stars from scraps. I stamped some stars over the smooshing in white, which ended up not showing up very well. I added the pieces I had fussy cut with regular adhesive and a couple of thicknesses of foam adhesive. I stamped the title with a darker turquoise color, along with the journaling lines. Since there were touched of black in the patterned paper circles, I wrote my journaling with a black pen. To finish off my layout, I used some enamel dots and a couple of canvas flair buttons.

 I am also entering this in the Walk in the Park challenge at Lasting Memories.

TTYLXOX- Sketches In Thyme

Hi all! I have a new layout to share today! It started with one of this month's sketches from  Sketches In Thyme:

I started with a piece of cardstock with resist stars on it. I took a Black Soot Distress Oxide ink pad and drug it across the page to create the black areas. I used a towel to rub the ink off the resist stars. I then found patterned papers and embellishments in pink to add around my photos. I used the title of one of the songs they danced to as the title of the page. The letters I found didn't have any "Ts" left, so I used Ks and trimmed and layered them to make the Ts. I also entered this in Day 2 of the Paper Issues 12 days of Christmas challenge, which was to use one sheet of cardstock and two photos.

Happy Birthday- Sketch Saturday

Hi all! I have a new card to share today, using last week's sketch from Sketch Saturday: 

I started by running the black background panel through my embossing machine in an embossing folder. I then took washi tape to make the stripes. I splattered the background with brown spray ink to give it the appearance of mud. I accidentally dropped my card base on the black panel while the ink was wet so I ended up with splatters on that as well. I then found some coordinating cardstock to make th truck. I cut that with my Cricut and attached it to the card with foam adhesive to set it off of the black background. I stamped the sentiment on coordinating cardstock and then trimmed the little banner and attached it to the card front. 

 

A Trio of Cards

Hello! I have three new cards to share today! First up is a card using the current card sketch from Stick It Down:

I started with a stamped background. This is actually the ink I lifted off the alcohol ink backgrounds that I used for Father's Day cards. I then took a piece of watercolor paper, some blue inks, and water and did the smooshing technique. I stamped and heat embossed the tree and sentiment on white cardstock and then edged those pieces with blue ink.I finished off the card with some sequins stars.

Next up is a card I made for my daughter's 17th birthday. I was inspired by last week's Tic Tac Toe challenge: 

I did the right column. I used my embossing machine and a snowflake folder on light blue cardstock. I took a white ink pad and rubbed it over the snowflakes to add a bit more depth to them. I then used the Altenew butterfly layering stamp set to stamp the butterflies. I fussy cut them and attached them to the card with foam adhesive. I made a quick little banner to stamp my sentiment and finished off the card front with some pearls.

Finally is a card I made for a friend who was ordained a deacon this weekend. I started by stamping a script text background stamp on the pearl background paper with Versamark and heat embossing it with clear powder. I added the gold spotted acetate strips. I stamped and heat embossed with gold powder the hands and sentiment on vellum. I ran the vellum and acetate through my sticker maker so the adhesive would be uniform and harder to see. I finished off the card with some twine for a rustic touch. 

 

December Calendar page

 Hello all! I have my December calendar page to share today! I started with the November double page sketch from Stick It Down:

I bought a Christmas warehouse box last year from Simple Stories and this layout was finally my chance to play with the more Christmassy stuff. I started by finding some patterned papers that went well with my photos. Once I had attached the banners across the bottom half of both pages, I used my sewing machine to create the frame with white thread. I wanted my photos to pop, so I matted them on white cardstock. For my journaling, I typed it up and printed it on white cardstock that I cut into strips. To embellish the page, I found some frames to add to a couple of the photos and then used some die cuts and brads to finish off the clusters. To add a bit of dimension, I added Glossy Accents to the little hearts in my clusters.

I am entering this in the Lasting Memories Thankful for Words challenge since I used lots of them and used a list form for my journaling to list off everything we did last December.

Towards the Sun

I have another new layout to share today! This layout started with this sketch from Paper Issues:

The sketch made me think of feathers, which made me think of these dance photos of my daughter. I started by cutting a bunch of feathers with my Cricut from glitter cardstock and glimmer cardstock. I then worked on some mixed media for my background. I used some Distress products and did the smooshing technique with some packaging. Once that was dry, I splattered some Glimmer Mists on the page. I then went to work attaching the feathers. I tucked both photos behind some of the feathers. I then cut a bunch of flowers using my Cricut. I edged all of the flowers with brown ink and curled them up a bit for dimension. I found a tag that coordinated with my colors. I also took a feather stamp and layered that in with the paper feathers. I put my Cricut to work again for the title, using rose gold cardstock. I have the sun mask from a kit and decided to use it here, adding the face on the top part of the layout and the rays around the word "Sun" on the bottom of the page. I embellished the flowers with a combination of enamel dots, gems, and Nuvo Drops.

Museum Hopping

Hello! I've had some time to create so I have a new layout to share! I started with the current single page sketch from Stick It Down:

My photos were a little different shaped, but I made the sketch work for them. I fussy cut the herringbone paper down the sides (I'm realizing now that you can hardly see the fussy cut part because of the photos 😆). I tore the edge of another patterned paper and layered it underneath. I added some texture to the background cardstock with some spray inks, both spraying and splattering them. For my title, I used my Cricut and cut the words from patterned paper and cardstock. For the word "museum," I cut the letters two more times from white cardstock and layered them to give the word a bit of dimension. I also used my Cricut to cut the gears from white cardstock. I used journaling stickers and image stickers to embellish the page. I finished off the page with some washi tape by each embellishment cluster to frame my photos and added silver brads to the middle of my gears.

 

Dan Patch Days

Hello, I have a new layout to share today! I started with this sketch from Sketches in Thyme:

I flipped the sketch since my daughter was facing the right in all of my small photos. I also used two photos instead of one for the large photo. I used papers from one of the kits from the Scraproom for September along with a very old sheet of patterned paper from my stash (copyright 2006 😱). I cut all of the patterned paper pieces and adhered them to my page. For my title, I used a font that had a rectangle around the letters. I wanted the letters to have a longer tab at the bottom, so I added and welded a small rectangle to the bottom of each letter. I attached the letters to my layout and added the small letter stickers to complete the title. The letters were blending in a bit with the background paper, so I outlined them with a matching pen. I then added some stitching with my sewing machine (which did not go smoothly). I didn't want to cover up the cute heart paper at the bottom any more, so I used vellum for my journaling. I stamped the lines and heat embossed them so they wouldn't smudge. I added some stamped splatters around the page and then added some watered down ink splatters as well over the top. To finish off the page, I used some stickers, puffy stickers and flair buttons. 

I am also entering this in the Lasting Memories Thankful for stamps and stickers challenge since I used a few of each on this layout.
 

More Cards!

I had to take a bit of a break from photo editing a couple of weeks ago to make some cards for some family celebrations. I'm not finally sharing them.

First up is a 40th birthday card that is very similar to one I made earlier this year, just using different colors. 

Next up is a card using a background that I created during the Simon Hurley class for SBC Fest. I simply cut the cake and stamped, heat embossed and fussy cut the banner and attached them to the ready made background. I used yellow Stickles gel for the "frosting" to finish off the card.

This was another card that I had the background already made way back when I made a bunch of teacher thank yous, I just added the die cut and created a shaker feature. To make the shaker feature, I used the shadow cut for the balloon and cut it from clear stiff packaging. I glued the die cut on top and then cut foam tape into thin strips and adhered it behind the outline of the balloon. I filled the well created by the foam tape with sequins, beads and glitter. I then pressed the card back onto the exposed adhesive. I finished off the card by gluing on a piece of embroidery floss as a string to the balloon.

Finally, I made an anniversary card using a scrap from the background stamped for the first card in this post. I stamped and heat embossed the flowers on the background cardstock and also stamped and heat embossed the sentiment. I added a strip of gold foil cardstock to the seam between the two parts. With the sentiment on the right, it needed a little something on the left, so I added the three red mini brads.

November Calendar Page

Hi all! I finally got my November calendar page finished! I used the two page sketch from last month at Stick It Down:

I started by pulling out white cardstock for my background, but once I started looking at the patterned papers, I decided kraft would make them stand out more. I cut the banners from scraps of patterned paper in the P13 fall collection from last year. I had one open spot that I used a journaling card in the place of a photo.I used my Cricut to cut the frames from a coordinating orange patterned paper.  I also used my Cricut to cut the title. I printed my journaling out and cut it into strips. To embellish the page, I used some Elle's Studio tab and word stamps, some Echo Park brads and chipboard pieces, and cut a couple of leaves from the P13 collection. To finish off the page, I splattered a bit of Tattered Angels Golden Terra Cotta ink around my embellishment cluster and title. 

 I am entering this in the Lasting Memories Thankful for die cuts challenge since I used my die cutting machine for the two frames and the title on this layout.

Sketch Saturday- Oh Happy Day card

Hello! It has been a while! I have been busy taking and editing family photos. I am finally caught up and able to play with paper (and post about it) again. First up is a card I made that was inspired by the current sketch from Sketch Saturday:

I pulled out scraps for this one since I needed some strips. I ended up finding mostly October Afternoon scraps. I trimmed the down and attached them to a black cardstock panel. I then stamped, heat embossed and fussy cut the sentiment. I attached it with foam tape for a bit of dimension. I then punched some stars from silver foil and iridescent foil cardstock. I layered those on either end of the banner to finish up the card.

 

A Day at the Museum

Hello, I have another new layout to share today! I started with the new October sketch from Rochelle Spears:

I used the sketch for the left hand page of this two page layout. I also used papers and elements from the September Scrap Room kit. The fun, bright colors and patterns went so well with my photos. To connect my two pages, I layered some of the patterned papers under my group of photos on the right page. For my title, I used a combination of tiny letter stickers and green foam Thickers. To add some texture to my page, I used a canvas piece that I spread molding paste through a mask onto. Once that was dry, I colored the whole thing with Abandoned Coral Distress Stain. I punched a hole and strung a scrap of ribbon through it. Since these photos are from three different museums, I used three journaling stickers so I could say a little about each place next to the photos from there. To embellish the page, I used die cuts and foam stickers that were included in the kit and washi tape and stickers from my stash. 

I was inspired by the current Use Your Stuff challenge to use small type- I used the mini letter stickers for part of my title. I also completed Scrap With Stacy's tic tac toe challenge, using the center column: washi tape, flowers, and circle.

Explore Como Zoo- Stick It Down

Hello! I had time this week to get a scrapbook layout done! I started with this sketch from Stick It Down:

Since the wedge elements one the page didn't require a lot of patterned paper, I decided to use Never Grow Up since I have lots of scraps in that collection and it has fun outdoorsy/animal patterns. I started by cutting one wedge and then I used that as the template for the rest in the larger element. Then I did the same for the smaller element. The large element was too large, so I trimmed down all of the wedges until both elements comfortably fit on the page. To bring some cohesion to the pieces, I took a pen and a ruller and outlined each one, using black for the lighter patterns and white for the darker patterns. Then I added my photos. I used my Cricut to cut the word "Explore" and found some mini letter stickers for the rest of my title. I found a journaling sticker and wrote my journaling on it. To embellish the page, I used some washi tape, stickers, a canvas flair button, a puffy sticker, some phrase stamps and some Nuvo drops. 

 

Lake Life

Hello, I had time to do a little scrapbooking the last couple of days and I put together this layout!

 I got the September "Flaver of the Month" kit from the Scraproom and used the Bella Blvd Lake Life papers for this layout because they were perfect! I fussy cut the top edge of the wave patterned paper to add some interest. I then added the fish paper to the top of my layout and stitched a frame around it. I double matted the group shot and individual shot of my son on the top and added action shots across the bottom of my layout. The title is a Paper Issues cut file. I cut the same cardstock for my journaling strips. I wanted to add some interest to the solid cardstock title, so I outline the letters with a pen, which fit the hand drawn lines challenge at Use Your Stuff.  I finished off my layout with some of the die cuts included in the kit.

October Calendar Page- Stick It Down

Hi all! I had time this week to get some scrapbooking done, so I did my October calendar page. I started with the double page sketch from Stick it Down:

I stuck really close to this sketch. I found the cute phrase strip in my stash and decided to use that as one of my edge strips. I cut another strip of the same thickness from pumpkin paper for my second page. I brought the two pages together with strips of plaid patterned paper on either end. I used a corner swirl stamp on the inside of the patterned paper strips. I matted my photos with orange cardstock to make them stand out a bit more on the white background. I found a journaling card that went with the rest of my paper and wrote my journaling on there. For the photo captions, I found some cardstock in the same color as the journaling card and cut that into strips. The title was cut using a Paper Issues cut file. I backed the pumpkins with patterned paper for some interest. I also decided to add some ink smooshing behind the  title for more interest. To embellish the page, I cut some leaves for a sheet of paper that I did some ink smooshing on. I also used some stickers, brads and chipboard pieces. I layered all of the pieces over the stamping. 

 I was also inspired by the Lasting Memories challenge to use layers. I did a little layering of my papers, but did lots of layering of my embellishments.

SBC Fest Day 2

Hello, I'm back to share my day 2 projects from SBC Fest. I only did two of the classes that day, but I love the projects I made!

First up was Vicki Boutin's layout class. We did some inking on our background to make a place for our design to land. It was so fun to play with inks, water and bubble wrap to make the background for this! We also inked up another sheet of paper and used it to cut the butterflies. I used papers I already had in my stash (most of which were from Vicki Boutin's collections). I used more photos that Vicki, because that's what I do! 😄 I pulled out a set of die cuts that matched the colors I was already working with on here and used my Cricut to cut the title.

 Finally, there was Tiffany Solorio's tag class. She used Distress Stains, which I don't have, but I have lots of spray inks, so I just found colors I liked ( and still sprayed- some are clogged and I didn't feel like working to unclog them). I also used some stamps on the background that I don't use often. I will be trying to find ways to use them more in the future because I really like how they looked on here. I just love all the colors on this and it is super shimmery in person!

SBC Fest Day 1

This past weekend, Scrapbook.com put on SBC Fest. It was two fabulous days of inspiration. I had so much fun creating along with some of the classes. Here are the projects I made on Day 1.

First up was a class with Simon Hurley. I made these two cards and a third card front that I haven't made into a card yet. I used masks, stamps, and inks that I already had for these, so they are different from what he created, but definitely inspired by his designs. He also used some of his Lunar Pastes, which I don't have, so I mixed some molding paste with pigment powder to get a similar effect.

Next up was Justin Adkins's class. He had us ink blending, which is always fun. I created the hello frame cut file to look similar to the die he used for the class. 

Finally was Christie Marcotte's class. I again shopped my stash and used products I already had. I also found some Cricut cuts that were similar to what she was using in the class. The last card ended up being quite different from what she created because my background paper had to go horizontally, so I made the pieces fit.
