Sunday School- Lasting Memories Guest Designer

Hi all! It is my last week as guest designer at Lasting Memories. This week's Opposites Attract challenge is to make a layout that uses hot and cold, summer and winter, or night and day. I ended up picking summer (spring) and winter. 

I scrapped photos from my daughter's Sunday school programs when she was 5. I have two photos from the Christmas program and two from the Spring program. I found some patterned papers that went with the Christmas and spring themes and ran those diagonally across the corners of my layout. I used gold embossed washi tape as a border on each paper. I then placed her certificate in the middle as my title and journaling. To embellish the page, I used some stickers, die cuts, flowers, brads and gold Liquid pearls and layered them up.

 I typically have a more elaborate title for my layouts, but I felt the certificate did enough explaining and added enough text that I went with that. This is a little different than what I typically do, but it's fun to try something different every once in a while.

July Calendar Page- Lasting Memories Guest Designer

Hello! I'm back with my layout for this week's challenge at Lasting Memories. This week's challenge is to use stripes and spots. 

I also used the June double sketch from Stick it Down:

Since this is my July calendar page, stripes were pretty easy. I found this blue chevron striped paper and cut the sheet in half, putting each half on either end of the layout. To fill the center I found this fun fireworks paper. For the "spots" part of the challenge, I went digging for a coordinating dot patterned paper. I found this yellow one and used it to mat my photos on the ends. I didn't have much for embellishments that matched my layout, so I decided to make pinwheels with the same striped paper I used on either ent. I liked that the back had the same patterned in red so it gave the layout a pop of red. I put a blue glitter enamel dot in the centers of my pinwheels. I typed my journaling on the computer, printed it, and cut it into strips. The rest of the embellishing came in the form of ribbon bows, a sticker and some sequins. For my title, I used some DIY Thickers and covered them in two sizes of red glitter.

Two More Cards

Hi all! I have my last two cards of my marathon card month! Today they are a wedding card and a sympathy card. I made these a the same time using the same stamp, just on different backgrounds. For the first card, I used a piece of watercolor paper with a resist design on it. I brushed a light wash of a shimmery blue watercolor. Then I used a floral Turnabout Stamp, three shades of blue ink and white ink, to stamp the flowers. I have the Turnabout Jig, so I centered and temporarily adhered the card panels on either side and then flipped it back and forth with each color.

Once the stamping was done, I let it dry, I took a damp cloth and went over the letters to wipe off any ink that landed on them. To finish the card, I dry embossed a piece of gold foil paper and used a piece of sheer white ribbon to create a bow over the seam of the card.

To finish off this card, I stamped and heat embossed the sentiment in silver. I then found some white trim to add. I finished off the card with dots of Liquid Pearls.

 

Birthday and Anniversary Cards, Same Sketch and Inspiration

Hello again! I have a couple of cards to share today that were inspired by this challenge a few weeks ago at Fusion:

I thought the color scheme was perfect for a 4th of July anniversary and a birthday a few days after the 4th. I started by blending Chipped Sapphire and Salty Ocean Distress Inks onto pieces of white cardstock. I then took a background stamp and misted it with water. I stamped that onto my inked backgrounds and let the water and Distress Ink do their magic. For the star, I stamped it on watercolor paper and heat embossed it. I then pressed Barn Door Distress Ink onto a plastic plate, sprayed it with water and then pressed my paper into it. I let the ink dry and then repeated until I was happy with the color. Once it was totally dry, I fussy cut the star, colored in some of the spaces with markers and cut the star in half. I stamped the sentiments on white cardstock scraps and attached them to my card front. I then added the star with foam tape. I decided they needed a bit more, so I added a strip of red glitter paper. I finished off the card with some white sequins.

 

Mommy's Messy Boy- Lasting Memories Guest Designer

Hello and welcome back! This week's challenge at Lasting Memories is Old/New! I had actually started this layout with last week's challenge in mind, but ended up switching to this week's because it fit it so well. The papers I used were from the new Heidi Swapp Sun Chaser collection. There are pinks in this collection, but I covered them up for my little boy layout. For my title, I cut the word "Messy" using my Cricut and used some really old Creative Memories die cut letters for the rest of the title. (See where I'm going here?) The rest of the embellishments on this layout are also quite old. I used some stamps for some of the splatters and also splattered some spray ink directly on my layout. I covered the word "Messy" with glossy accents for some dimension and interest.

Celebrate- Sketch Saturday

Hi all! I'm back with a card to share today! I needed a masculine card and was feeling no inspiration until I saw this sketch from Sketch Saturday:

I started by running a piece of kraft cardstock through a wood grain embossing folder. I love the texture of this folder! Then I stamped the ram on a circle of white cardstock. I also stamped several leaves. I colored them all with watercolor pencils and then blended the colors with a water brush. Once that was dry, I stamped the sentiment on the circle and fussy cut the leaves. I wanted another layer below my ram picture, so I pulled out some dark brown mulberry paper (remember that stuff?). To get the perfect circle, I laid the stamped circle onto the paper and then, using a water brush, I drew a larger circle on the mulberry paper. That made ripping the paper easy. Then I just adheared the stamped circle to the mulberry paper and the cut out leaves on top. To finish off the card, I added a few gold ink splatters.

 

Little Fish- Lasting Memories Guest Designer

Hi all! Can you believe it is July already? I am excited to share that I am the guest designer at Lasting Memories this month! Lasting Memories always has great challenges that inspire me to create. This month's theme is Opposites Attract. The challenge this week is Big/Small. 

I created this layout for the challenge using a big cut file (which ended up mostly being covered by my photos and ephemera) and small enamel dots. I started this layout with the photos. I found the hex/triangle sheet of Vicki Boutin patterned paper and decided to use it because it reminded me a bit of the tiles around pools. I had used part of the paper, so I had to trim it down and find a coordinating sheet of paper to go on the rest of the page. I then found a splatter cut file to go behind my photos. I cut it from a coordinating color of blue cardstock and adhered it to my background. I then adhered my photos and the assessment sheet from my daughter's instructor. For the title, I combined a Cricut cut and letter stickers. I embellished the page with a tag and stamped tab, various kinds of stickers, and enamel dots.
