Another Birthday Card

I'm back with another card for another challenge that needed to be posted before the end of the month! For this one, I used the current card sketch from Stick It Down:

I started with some corrugated cardstock for my card front. I had the ruler patterned paper and realized that it would be perfect as this was a card for my nephew's 6th birthday. I then went to work stamping the two panels with a ombre inkpad. I layered the stamped panels onto orange woodgrain paper and attached them to my card. I used my Cricut to cut the stars. The large star outline I cut twice to give it a little more dimension. To finish things off, I used some Stickles to give the stars some shine.

Happy Birthday- Tic Tac Toe Challenge

Hello, I have a new card to share today! I was inspired by the current board at Tic Tac Toe challenge:

I used the left column to inspire this card. I started with some kraft cardstock that I ran through an wood grain embossing folder. I did a little ink blending with a couple colors of brown Distress Inks to bring out the texture more. I layered that over some patterned paper scraps. I then went to work with my Cricut, cutting the leaves from copper paper and the "Happy Birthday"' sentiment from navy paper once and black (because I didn't have enough navy) twice. I layered the navy die cut over the two black die cuts to give the sentiment some dimension. To finish off the card, I used some Dirty Bronze Nuvo Drops.

Great Wolf Lodge Fun

Hi all! I have a new layout to share today! It is a two pager, but I used this sketch from Scrap Our Stash for the left hand page:

I ended up mixing lots of brands and collections on this layout. For my title, I found the Great Wolf Lodge logo online, downloaded it and turned it into a cut file using the Cricut software. Once it was cut, I left it on the mat, and used a piece of plastic to do the smooshing technique with some blue Distress Inks. I let it dry and then took it off the mat. I used the negative cut to get the spacing right. I also kept it for another layout, since I will be making layouts about this trip for all four of my older kids.  I finished off  the title with some letter stickers that I sewed down with my sewing maching. To add some interest to the background of my layout, I used a wave cut file and cut it from the same color of cardstock and glued the pieces onto my background. I am also saving the negative cut from that for another layout!

For embellishment, I used my banner punch and made a banner next to my title. I pulled out some splatter stamps and added those around my layout in dark blue ink. I finished off my clusters with stickers, puffy stickers, enamel dots and some epoxy flair.

I am also entering this in the Lasting Memories Pattern Paper Play challenge to use striped paper. I used a couple of striped papers for this layout.

Thanks for stopping by to check out my layout!

Hello Forty

Hi all! I have a new card to share today! Yesterday was my husband's 40th birthday, so this is the card I made for him. He has gotten really in to kayaking (and shopping for kayaks in the last few months, so I went with that. For my background, I used the smooshing technique with some Distress Inks. Once that was dry, I stamped the stripes and gave them a spray of water to get the color to bleed a bit. I then took a paint brush and some metallic watercolors and added the splatters.

I used my Cricut to cut the sentiment and kayak. The kayak was then heat embossed with clear powder for some interest. I cut the kayak too close to where something else had been cut from the paper so the bottom edge was rough. To cover that up, I colored some molding paste with ink and spread that across the bottom of may card as water. I finished the design off with some navy enamel dots.

I was inspired by the current board from Tic Tac Toe Challenge:

I used the top row- enamel dots, watercolor technique and a large sentiment.

Little Miss Back to School

Hello, I have a new layout to share! It's back to school time and I have some (old) back to school photos to share. This girl just started 7th grade this year!

I was inspired by this sketch from Sketches In Thyme:

I started by smooshing some yellow ink on my background where I was going to put my photos. Then I used a stencil and ink blending tool to make the orange circles (I'm really liking this stencil). I finished the ink work with some splatters of blue ink. I laid out my photos and went to work embellishing. I ended up pulling out the October Afternoon Modern Homemaker collection. I'm getting down to scraps of that, but this design lended itself well to that restriction. I cut the pencil, apple, star and title with my Cricut. For my journaling, I used a journaling stamp and black ink and stamped off the page. I felt like I needed a little something between the title and journaling so I used a piece of washi tape. I finished off the page with enamel dots, brads and some puffy stickers.

I am also entering this in the Lasting Memories plaid/gingham/check challenge since I used lots of those patterns on here.

Thanks for stopping by to check out my layout!
