Beat the Heat- Sketches In Thyme

Hello again! I got another layout finished this weekend. I had time and I know busy photography season is just around the corner, so I took advantage! I started with this sketch from Sketches in Thyme:

I made some changes to this sketch to get some more photos in. I extended the longest strip of patterned paper and used six photos. I staggered the photos like in the sketch, which meant having them right up to the edge. For the title, I used a Paper Issues free cut file and cut it from patterned paper and then chipboard for dimension. I had some fun with some new embellishments. I got a new Elle's Studio tab stamp set that I used a bunch on this layout. I also used stamps, Stamp N Bond, and glitter for the stripes behind the title. I forget to use the Stamp N Bond, but it is such a cool product! The little cluster in the bottom right was an add on when I dropped an inked stamp on my layout. I decided to just cover up the boo boo with some washi tape, stickers and epoxy flair. I used some puffy stickers, acetate heart stickers and pink Color Shine ink splatters to finish off the layout.

September Calendar Page- Stick It Down

Hello! It's the end of the month, which means I am sharing my calendar page for next month! I once again started with the sketch from Stick It Down:

I stuck pretty close to the layout for the photos, but I did split a couple of the spots to get a couple more photos in. I recently bought a bunch of papers from the Vicki Boutin Color Study line and that's what I used on this layout. I love the bright colors and distressed patterns! I wrote out my journaling on strips and attached them to the photos. I didn't have a ton of things to write about as we didn't do a lot last September because of COVID. To embellish the page, I used some gold Heidi Swapp spray ink to make splatters around my page. The rest of the embellishments are a mix of old rub ons, die cuts, stickers, epoxy accents and puffy stickers. I added a little more journaling to the tag in the center of the right hand page to talk about what consumed a lot of our time- soccer.

Thanks for stopping by to check out my layout.

Happy Birthday layout

Hello! I am here today with a new layout to share! I was inspired by the August sketch challenge on Rochelle Spears's blog. Here is the sketch:

I had three photos to work with, so I expanded the photo area to includ all of them. I used my Cricut to cut "Happy Birthday" from white cardstock. I used ink to color it. I found this easier than trying to find cardstock to match. I was able to find red cardstock that matched, so I cut our friend's name from that. I used a journaling stamp for the lines and then wrote out my journaling in green Sharpie. To embellish the page, I used, die cuts, stickers, washi tape, enamel dots, puffy stickers and twine. With the twine, I tied a double bow and stuck it under the badge at the bottom of my photos. I also took a bit of the twine and wrapped it around a couple of fingers to make a circle and stuck that under the foam tape under the "It's Party Time" die cut. I covered the word "birthday" in my title with Glossy Accents for some interest and drew a little flame on the "i" in the name.

I also played along with the Scrap with Stacy tic tac toe challenge:

I used the center column- twine, circles and stickers. Thanks for stopping by to check out my layout!

Life's Better...

Hi all! I have another new layout to share! This one came together pretty quickly yesterday. I started with this sketch from Sketches in Thyme:

I received some new scrapbooking supplies yesterday, so I started with those, but also ended up working in some older supplies as well.  I started by splattering blue ink on my green background cardstock. Once that was dry, I laid out my photos and patterned paper pieces. I recently bought a tag punch and so I put that to work on this layout. I added red embroidery floss to the tags. Once the photos and papers were attached, I made the title with a combination of a Cricut cut and rub ons. For the journaling, I stamped the lines for the journaling and then wrote it. One of the new supplies I got was an Elle's Studio stamp set with tab outlines and phrases. I used that to make the little blue tab on my layout. I finished the layout off with a wood button and puffy stickers.

I am also entering this in the Lasting Memories Get Your Game On- Mario Party challenge which is to use stars. I have some star patterned paper and some star puffy stickers on this layout.

Happy Birthday Football Card

Hello again! I'm back today with a quick card share. I had an idea for this one and it tuned out pretty close to how I envisioned it.

For the background, I used Yupo paper and alcohol inks. I started with the red with some white mixative mixed in and swiped it across the paper in a triangle shape. I then did the black with a few drops of silver and filled in the rest of the paper with swipes. I then put a few drops of blending solution on the pad and just pounced it around the black to add some texture. I found the football player in Cricut Design Space and cut it from black cardstock. I then pressed it onto a Versamark pad and heat embossed it with clear embossing powder. I decided to do a second layer to smooth it out a bit more. This is when I discovered that the red triangle on my card was too big so I went back in with the black so that the triangle would end behind the football player. I stamped the sentiment in black and attached the football player with foam tape for dimension. I finished off the card front with Liquid Mercury and Silver Lining Nuvo Drops.

Thanks for checking out my card!

The Great Outdoors

Hello all! I am here today to share a new layout! I started with the latest sketch from Even More Scrapping:

This sketch worked really well with my photos with a few modifications on the sizes. Since my photos were a little smaller than the ones in the sketch, I used a bit more patterned paper on the edges of my layout. I was also inspired by the "great outdoors" challenge at Bitten By the Bug. The title of the challenge worked so well for my layout. I used my Cricut to cut the word "Outdoors", the banners and the bird in the bottom right. After I had cut the bird, I inked it to make it match some of the birds in the bird patterned paper I used. For the rest of my title, I used some really old letter stickers on my banners. I finished off the layout with some stickers, enamel dots, epoxy accents, and washi tape for my embellishment clusters.

Thanks for stopping by to check out my layout!

New Cards to Share

Hello! I have some new cards to share today. First up is a card I made for my nephew who is turning 7. let me tell you, I was SO excited when I found that "7" embellishment in this collection that I am trying to use up! I then went to work finding a sketch to work with it. The current challenge at Sketch Saturday is to choose any of their past sketches. I chose this one from earlier this month:

I cut some circles from the patterned papers and attached them to the navy paper. Once everything was laid out, I decided I needed more interest on my background so I added some gold ink splatters. I used some embroidery floss to make the tassle for my tag. For the sentiment, I stamped it first in Chipped Sapphire Distress Ink and then a second time with Versamark. Then I heat embossed it with clear embossing powder for some interest.

Next up is a card for my nephew who is turning 2. I used the Tic Tac Toe Challenge board from last week:

I used the right column: Orange, free, and alphabet stamps. For the background of my card, I pieced together some scraps from the same collection I used for the previous card. Then I made the balloon shaker with my Cricut. I cut the outline from navy paper and chipboard. I cut a filled in balloon from orange woodgrain paper. I traced the balloon onto some clear rigid plastic packaging and cut it out. I then used Archival ink to stamp the "2" onto the plastic. I used various sequins and beads to fill my shaker. I don't do shakers often, but it is always so fun to select items to put in them! Once that was all put together, I attached it to my card and glued down a piece of embroidery floss for the string.

Last card is for our goddaughter who turns 8 this week. This is another collection that I am trying to use up. I found a 4x6 card and trimmed it down to fit on my card front. I then took the pink polka dot scrap and laid that over it. I fussy cut the butterflies and folded up the wings a bit and attached them. I used pink and silver Nuvo Drops for the butterfly trails. I also put glossy accents over the sentiment to add dimension and interest. I then put the card on the shelf to dry. My card front was not totally flat and when I came back, some of the Glossy accents and flowed off the card onto my shelf! So learn from my mistake and make sure your paper is flat while it dries!

Thanks for stopping by to check out my cards!
