Happy Birthday Cards

Hello again, I have a set of cards to share today. I was inspired by last week's sketch at CAS(E) This Sketch:

I used the center of the Center Cut Burst background stamp by Simon Says Stamp. I stamped the center burst in different colors on white cardstock panels. I cut up the panels and paired them with glitter cardstock and attached them to a card base. I also stamped the sentiment panels with the same stamp and then stamped and heat embossed the sentiment. I finished off the cards with some sequins.

Watercolor Style Backgrounds

Hello! I have a couple of new cards to share. I used some Distress Inks and water to make my backgrounds. I started by smooshing Faded Jeans and Iced Spruce Distress Oxide inks on a plastic surface. I gave the inks a good spray of water and then drug my watercolor paper panels through the ink. I dried that and then smooshed Chipped Sapphire Distress Ink onto the surface and gave that a spray of water. I drug my background through that ink until I was happy with my backgrounds. As you can see, this technique gave great color variation.

I cut some flowers from white cardstock using my Cricut and the Botanicals cartridge. I colored the flowers with colored pencils and attached them to the background panels. For the card on the left, I popped one of the flowers up on foam adhesive for some dimension. I finished off the card fronts with stamped and heat embossed sentiments.

Fest Fun

Hello! I have a new layout to share with you. This layout was inspired by the current sketch at Sketches in Thyme:

I started by finding patterned papers for the banners. I couldn't find anything that worked for my background, so I ended up cutting some blue cardstock with my Cricut and the Edge to Edge cartridge. For the title, I used some white letter stickers and colored them blue with a mini ink pad. To embellish the page, I used some rub ons, lion die cuts and star gems to give a Renaissance feel. The lions were black and white, so I colored them with coordinating watercolor pencils and then blended the color with a water pen.

Thanks for stopping by to check out my layout!
