Celebrate!

Hello! A happy Holy Saturday to you! I have a new card to share. I made this last week for my dad's birthday. I started with this sketch from CAS(E) this Sketch:

I followed the sketch very closely because as soon as I saw the blocks on the bottom of the sketch, it made me think of a stamp set that has various brush strokes and splatters. I pulled out that set and used those. I dry embossed the top part of the card to add some interest. Since I used white washed Core'dinations, I sanded the paper after embossing to reveal the orange underneath. I stamped the sentiment on coordination cardstock and finished off the card with some brads.

Goodbye Sweet Baby

Hello all! Today I have a new layout to share, but this one is on a heavy subject. Today's page is a tribute to the baby I lost through miscarriage 6 years ago. Part of the reason it has taken me so long to make this page is that I wanted it to be "perfect" since this is the only page that will be devoted to this child. I don't know if I accomplished that, but I am very happy with the results.

I started with this sketch from Sketches in Thyme:

Sketch #317 - March 15-21

I used another of the page kits I recently received from The Scrap Room. I felt that the colors and patterns worked well with my photos and subject matter. My photos were a little bigger than what is shown in the sketch, so I just adjusted them to fit on my page. I stuck pretty close to the sketch for the rest of it. I have debated how much information to include on the page. I stuck with the basics. I have a copy of a speech I gave about a year later with more details that I will tuck in the album behind the layout.

20 Weeks- Stuck?! Sketches

Hello, I'm back again with another layout. Yesterday it was a layout for my oldest child's book, this time for the youngest. I started with this sketch from Stuck?! Sketches:

I used my 20 week ultrasound images for this layout. Since they are landscape orientation, I rotated the sketch 90 degrees. I cut the circles from different patterned papers (some are not full circles, but the part where they end is covered) and adhered them to my background. I then took my sewing machine and stitched around the circles. After that, I layered on the images and patterned paper strips. For embellishments, I added some chipboard hearts that I colored with Distress inks, a badge, some journaling spots and letters for my title.

Family Is Everything

Hello! I have a new layout to share! This one came together pretty quick thanks to a page kit from The Scrap Room. I won a gift card to their store last month and I ordered the November 2017 Flavors of the Month kit because I like that there were some fall papers as well as papers that could be used anytime. I worked with the Pink Paislee "Turn the Page" papers for this layout.

I was also inspired by the recipe challenge at The Studio this month. The challenge was to use as many of these "ingredients" as possible:
Mists
Stamping
Ribbon
Stitching
Purple
Flowers
Wood veneers
Aqua colour
Enamel Dots
A heart

I got most of the items on the page. For the mists, I sprayed, splattered, and smooshed a few coordinating colors onto my background. I stamped part of my title. I have a few hearts, including the big one that I machine-stitched around. My enamel dots aren't technically dots, but stars and hearts. The only things I didn't get on here were ribbon and purple (unless you count the purple in some of the clothing in the photos).

March Calendar Page- Stick It Down

Hello all! It's been a while! I thought I was going to get some scrapping done while I watched the Olympics, but I ended up doing nothing! So now that that's over, I have a little time to scrap again. Here is the sketch from Stick It Down that I started with:

I played around a little with the photo sizes, but stuck fairly close to the sketch. I liked the squares and used a 6x6 pad for most of the patterned paper on this one. To break up the squares, I used scalloped circles for my journaling. Once I got to embellishing, I realized that this layout was pretty busy, so I just added a few flowers and word stickers and called it good.
