Hello! It's August 31st, so it looks like I got my layout done just in the nick of time! I was inspired once again by the two page sketch at Stick it Down: 

I pulled out the Simple Stories Good Day Sunshine collection. It has such beautiful colors and I love the rainbow ombre paper! I had thought about using it for the circle, but I wouldn't be able to get the full rainbow in that space, so I decided to used a border punch and run it across my page.

I was also inspired by the Got Talent #8 challenge at My Scraps and More. The challenge was to reuse some plastic packaging on your layout and to write and cut out part of your title. I loved the rainbow ombre paper so much, I decided to recreate the effect using watercolor pencils for my title.  Once I had all the letters of my title written, I went over the whole thing with a water brush. I then fussy cut the word. 

For the plastic packaging part of the challenge, I used a sheet of clear plastic I've had for quite some time, so I don't even remember what it was from. I stamped on it with some Versamark and then heat embossed it with white powder.

I punched some flowers, collected some random die cut flowers and other embellishments and cut the green branches using my Cricut for the clusters.

Gymnastics Camp- Custom Patterned Paper

I have a new layout to share tonight. This one went together pretty quickly once I got going. I went back and did one of the Got Talent challenges from earlier this summer. I chose challenge #7 which was to make 2 custom patterned papers.

I started with purple cardstock for the background and used a mask and gesso to create the pattern. In the process I managed to get gesso all over the place and didn't realize it until later when I noticed it dried onto the sweatshirt I was wearing. :( Any tips on getting it to wash out? Anyway, I sprinkled some blue glitter over the wet gesso to add some more color and sparkle. For my other paper, I took a sheet of white cardstock and used a red gelato and a purple metallic marker and created the chevron paper behind my photos. After that, I pulled in some coordinating embellishments from my stash. 

I used the same red gelato to color the letters for my title. and the middle piece of the big chipboard flower. After I had put the washi tape on my page, I decided to pull out some gold paint and add other gold accent to my page. I painted a few pieces and splattered some paint where I was planning to put my title. I wanted some big splatters, and I had tried to use my brush to do it, but I wasn't satisfied with how it looked. So, I pulled out some plastic packaging and went to work "smushing" my wet paint. I love that technique! 

This large photo was sent home with my daughter from camp. To draw attention to my daughter, I found this cute little crown and added it over her head. I finished off the page with enamel dots and shapes and a few sequins.

A Shower Card and a Sympathy Card

 Hi all! We had a busy week last week and I was only able to complete these two cards. First up is a bridal shower card that I made for a friend who is getting married at the end of September.

I was inspired by this week's sketch at CAS(E) this Sketch:

I used the colors of her invitations to make this card. I don't normally cut into "uncut" 12x12 papers for cards, but the red and gold paper was just too perfect and I've had it for quite some time.  I stamped the flowers on the B side of the patterned paper with Versamark and heat embossed them with red embossing powder. Then I fussy cut them out and layered them on my card. I popped one of the small ones up with some foam adhesive. The sentiment was heat embossed with bronze powder. I finished off the card with some sequins.

I also made this sympathy card for a friend who lost her grandmother a couple of weeks ago. I stamps the candle and sentiment with black ink and heat embossed it with iridescent embossing powder on white vellum. I colored a few of the flowers with a pink marker and made a quick scribble over the back of the sentiment to make it stand out more. Then I attached it to the patterned paper panel. 

Food, Fur, FUN!...and 40 eyelets!

 Hello! I spent some time scrapbooking today and was able to complete an entire page!

This are some more photos from 4 years ago. This time it is a photo collage from the county fair. I was inspired by this week's Got Talent challenge at My Scraps and More. The challenge was to use 3 techniques, two of which had to be stamping and using a "messy" medium. The third technique was our choice.

The background cardstock was sitting in my stash from a previous layout. I had used the polka dot mask and then took it and "stamped " it onto this piece for later use. I also stamped the blue behind my title and some words around the page. I splattered some red spray ink around the title area. My third technique was die cutting and I put my Cricut to work, cutting out the title and title block. As a fun added throw back technique, I used 40 eyelets around my title block!

You're One!

Hi all!  I have a new layout to share! I've had a little time to work on some old photos.  This little guy just turned 5 last month! I am getting close to finishing his baby book though! ;) 

I was inspired by this week's Got Talent Challenge at My Scraps and More. The challenge was to make a custom title, no letter stickers allowed! I love getting creative with my titles, so this was right up my alley! I cut the word "You're" using my Cricut and the "Makin' the Grade" cartridge. For the word "One" I used a watercolor pencil and a water pen to write the word and then hand cut it out.

My papers were from the Bella Blvd "Tiny Tots" collection, but I pulled embellishments from several other places.

I was also inspired by Bitten by the Bug 2's challenge this week which was to use a birthday cake on your project. I found this cut on the "Stretch Your Imagination" cartridge. Most of it was cut from patterned paper, but I liked the grey and white star pattern from my washi tape, that I covered a piece of white cardstock with that and cut out one of the layers. For the "frosting", I used some Liquid Pearls.

I used the packaging "smushing" technique around my focal point photo and in the bottom left corner to add the blue and green to the page.  I love the controlled mess I get with this technique! As you can see in the photo below, I outlined the word "You're" with a blue pen to make it stand out a bit more. This was a layout that I ended up having to move things after I stuck them down. The big white and orange star started in the bottom right cluster and I was going to put the cake die cut near my title. Once I had it on the page, I realized that all of the photos of the actual cake were near the title, so having the die cut there seemed redundant. So I peeled up the foam adhesive on the big star and moved it to the top and put the cake in the bottom right corner. After I thought I had finished the layout, I decided that the title area and the bottom left cluster needed some of the darker blue, so I punched a couple of stars from the dark blue paper and added those.

Celebrate 2- Stick It Down

Hello again! I have another card to share. This time it is a fun birthday card based on this sketch from Stick It Down:

I loved the stars in the sketch, so I decided to go with them for my card. I used a star mask and some Distress Stains and Inks and moved the mask a few times. Then I punched some stars from some coordinating patterned paper. I attached some of the stars directly to the card front and used foam adhesive for others to add some dimension.The final bit of dimension came with the big star. I traced it using the same star mask and fussy cut it out. I used my Cricut to cut the "2". I used the die cut number to hide the foam adhesive that I used to attach the vellum star. A stamped and heat embossed sentiment and some white pen details finished off this card.

Baby Love: Cas(e) this Sketch #135

Hi all!  I am sharing a card today that is based on this week's sketch at CAS(E) this Sketch:

This card came together pretty quickly.  I pulled out some coordinating patterned paper, a couple of punches and a couple of stamps. I stacked the punched circles and stamped the onsie in orange ink.  I attached it with some foam adhesive to give the card a bit of dimension. A grey stamped sentiment finished off the card.

Girl(s) Just Wanna Have Fun

Hi all! I have a new layout to share! I picked up the 6x6 pad of Bo Bunny's Forever Young collection a couple of years ago and I finally got the chance to use it, isn't it so fun?!

The title was inspired by the very first Got Talent challenge of the summer at My Scraps and More. The challenge was to use a song title as the title of your layout. I had the random collection of my little girl being goofy and I thought the title fit perfectly! 

I had a lot of fun putting together the title for this. I started with some DIY Thickers and used glitter to match them to the colors in my papers. Some of my alphabet stickers are getting short on letters, so I had to get a little creative here. The "s" is a 5 that I rounded some corners off of. The "w" in "Wanna" is an upside down "m" and if you look closely, you can see that I used a "u", cut off the bottom curve and used it as the cross piece of my "h". The word "Fun" was cut with the Cricut and then outlined with black pen. For the center of the exclamation point, I used a versamark pen and Stamp n' Bond as my adhesive for the glitter. The big circles on my background were made with a mask and Gelatos.

For the big cluster on the right side of my layout, I started with a sheer journaling spot. The text patterned paper made the journaling a little hard to read, so I used a red gelato on the back to make it a bit more opaque. A few other embellishments finished off the cluster.

I am also entering this in the current Paper Issues challenge: It's All About the Face. Since most of the photos on this layout are of my daughter's face, I think it fits. ;)
