September Calendar Page- ScrapFit #74

I have my September calendar layout done, with a couple days to spare! For this one, I went to ScrapFIT for inspiration. Workout #74 is a sketch challenge with a sketch by the awesome Diana Fisher. It is a one page sketch, but I made it work for my two page spread by rotating it 90 degrees and extending it.
I also used the "play" challenge from 8/16 at My Scraps and More. This was a bingo challenge and we had to select a row, column or diagonal and use those elements on a layout. I ended up using the bottom row: mask, ribbon, brads, and glitter.
I had fun playing with mists on here.  I started by spraying white mist on the layout.  I was going to leave it alone, but decided I wanted to add some more interest so I used a Crafter's Workshop mask and did a couple of spritzes of yellow mist.

I also played with clustering embellishments.  I used some more rub ons for the base layer and then added some die cuts.  I finished off with a gromlet flower.  I accented the center of some of the flowers on my layout and the stars with some Stickles for the glitter.

Nuts About Sketches #228- August calendar page

Hi all! I hope you are having a good Monday! Today is my last reveal at Nuts About Sketches. I have had a great time working with Shawn's sketches and being a part of this team and I look forward to continuing to work with the sketches in the future!

Well, some of you may have noticed that I never shared my calendar layout for this month. That was because I used this sketch and had to wait for the reveal! I really enjoyed this sketch because there were so many places for photos. I also liked that some of the spots were for larger photos, which makes them easy to split to squeeze even more photos on! I am currently using the left hand page for my calendar.

Lovely Pics

I have a quick layout to share today. I didn't do this one for any challenges, just did it to get the photos scrapped. I used Crate Paper's "Sweet Branch" Collection which is several years old.  I have found I really like working with collection packs lately because it makes the mixing and matching of papers so easy!  After completing this layout, I had no whole sheets of paper left of this collection, so it is now a "card kit."  I can grab it when I need to make a card and there are bits and pieces of matching papers to make creating a card quick and easy!  For this layout I used some of the die cuts in the kit, punched some scalloped circles from some of the paper, and fussy cut some flowers  and then used pop dots to give the page some dimension.  The page when together quite quickly!

Baptism Layout- Sketches in Thyme

I finished a layout earlier this week using the Sketch #88 at Sketches in Thyme. I flipped the sketch horizontally, used two horizontal shots in the place of some of the vertical spots and reduced the number of vertical photos spots by one.

To add some texture and interest to the plain background cardstock, I sprayed the bottom section with some white mist.  (Sorry about the glare on this photo, I am still trying to figure out the place with the best lighting to photograph my layouts.)

I had some fun altering some grungeboard elements for this page.  I started by coloring them white with by white Distress Stain.  Then I sprayed them with turquoise Perfect Pearls Mist to give them some shimmer.  Finally I rubbed a Versamark inkpad over the raised areas and sprinkled on some maroon embossing powder.  I sprayed my flowers with the Perfect Pearls mist as well so there is quite a bit of shimmer on this page!

Night Night

I got another layout done for the My Scraps Got Talent Contest which ends today.  I did this one for challenge #3 which was to use the sketch below and 5 manufacturers.

As I was making the layout, I was thinking that it meant AT LEAST 5 manufacturers, but now I am not so sure.  I think it may have been ONLY 5 manufacturers.  Oh well, I got another page done.  For the stars on the background I wanted a soft look so I used a Crafter's Workshop template and my white Distress Stain Dabber.  The die cut paper was a yellow color that didn't go with the rest of the layout so I sprayed it with some white Mister Huey's spray ink.  The vellum saying doesn't stand out much, but I decided to make that my title mostly because I couldn't find another place to put a title without making the page feel unbalanced.  :)

Dakota County Wins

I completed another layout last week for the My Scraps Got Talent II contest. This time it was the first Pre-Contest Challenge. The challenge was to use the sketch below and also use some paints or mists on the layout.

I did another layout with ribbons I won at the fair in 2010. I usually really struggle to make these layouts work, but the challenges at My Scraps have really helped me!  To make the rays on the background cardstock, I cut an old bag into strips to make the mask.  I sprayed that over the plain cardstock.  I dried that with my heat gun and then attached the white patterned paper.  Then I splattered some blue mist over that.
I also played a bit with the Scor Pal board I bought a couple of months ago at a garage sale. I made both of the yellow medallion flowers. I am really happy with how they turned out and they were pretty easy to make with the Scor Pal so I think they will be appearing on more of my projects!

Nuts About Sketches #226

It's Monday so I am back with a new layout for Nuts About Sketches. This week we had a fun two page sketch to work with. I have been waiting to print these photos until I figured out the best way to display them and this sketch does so beautifully!

I used a mask and Sugar Maple Glimmer mist for the misting behind the title.  I fussy cut the balloon shapes from a sheet of Basic Grey paper.  For the three dimensional balloons I took three of them, folded each one in half length wise and the glued them together.  I played a bit with clustering and layering and used some more rub ons.

Happy Birthday!

I have a birthday card to share that I made for my nephew who turns 4 tomorrow. I used the current sketch at Mojo Monday for this one. I also took on the current challenge at Bitten by the Bug 2, which is to use a hot air balloon or airplane.

I chose to use the airplane from the Boys Will Be Boys cartridge. I used a bunch of papers that I have collected for my "boy" pages. to give the airplane a finished look, I inked the edges of all the pieces before assembling it. I also decided to mat everything with white to make all of these busy patterns work together.

Ribbons!

I have been busy scrapping while watching the Olympics! I have layouts completed for 2 of the 3 remaining sketches for Nuts About Sketches for this month (which I can't share) and I got this one done for the My Scraps Got Talent Contest.

This one is for the first challenge which was to use the sketch below and the added challenge was to choose a row from the bingo board and use those elements on the page.

Yes, this is a scrapbook page about scrapbook pages.  :)  I entered a couple into a county fair in 2010 and won a couple of ribbons.  For this challenge, I used the items in the bottom horizontal row.  I did the misting on my chipboard flowers.  First I painted them with pink and then misted them with a couple of different masks.  I also misted the green fabric butterfly.

Nuts About Sketches #225

It's Monday which means a new sketch at Nuts About Sketches. This week it is a single page sketch. This sketch is a little different than my usual style, with the separated photo areas, but I had a lot of fun with it!

I used photos from our visit to an apple orchard/ pumpkin farm from a couple of years ago.  I've really been enjoying using rub ons lately, I like that they add texture to the page without bulk.  I also used a couple to dress up some chipboard buttons.
