New Challenge Layouts and a Card

I've been meaning to get these layouts photographed and uploaded for a couple of days, but I've been fighting a cold and it just didn't happen. Here are the projects I completed this week.

The first was a layout for the Recipe Challenge at Challenge Masters. The challenge was to use bright colors, staples, inked edges, an arrow, and alphabet stickers.


The next was for the Sketch Challenge at Challenge Masters. Here is the original sketch by Audrey:

Finally, I did the Surprise Challenge. This month's challenge was posed by Teri DeFoe. It was to make one of these fun cards:


I made a 50th birthday card for my mom. The sentiment on the front of the card is a digital stamp I downloaded from here.

Some Challenge Layouts

I completed a couple of layouts for challenges at Challenge Masters. The first was a technique challenge. The challenge was to make a flower on your project. I used a border punch and made border strips. I then took those strips and folded them so they would make a circle. I attached them to a circle of paper with Fabri Tac and finished it off with a button. The paper I used was light blue so they looked a little like snowflakes so I sprayed them with purple Glimmer Mist. This was also the last challenge at Method Playground. Unfortunately, those entries were due by April 11th so I missed the deadline- surprise, surprise! :-/



The next one was for the Book of Me Challenge. The challenge was to create a layout about your house. Next Tuesday will be 4 years since we closed on our house so this challenge was very timely for me.

Grin Birthday Card

I made this card the other night for my sister-in-law's birthday which is today. I used the Stash Challenge at Challenge Masters as my inspiration. The challenge was to use scraps of cardstock, patterned paper from 2007 or earlier, ribbon that had never been opened, an embellishment, never used stamp, brads, and a flower. I used cardstock from about a half piece I had laying around, the PP is DCWV from '06 or '07, the ribbon I bought probably close to a year ago and thought it was so cute, but it still had the wrapping on it, I added gems to the sentiment, the layered stamp that I hadn't used yet, and a flower and brad. The biggest challenge was finding a stamp I hadn't used. I try to only buy products I know I will use, and this helped me see I have done a pretty decent job of that!

New Spring Layouts

Well, I made these layouts for a call and then didn't send them off in time, oops. So here are a couple of pages I made using pictures from last Easter. The first is the day we dyed eggs, which was the first time we had done it (we didn't get around to it this year either). I used up a bunch of American Crafts chipboard eggs I've had for a couple of years. I decorated the plain eggs with rubons, ribbon, and border stickers, which was as fun as actually dying the eggs!


The second is of my oldest daughter on Easter morning looking for the Easter bunny and her basket. I used the Cricut quite a bit on this one. I used the rabbit from "Zooballoo", the basket from "Doodlecharms" and the "Tear Drop" font.

Happy Easter and My First Challenge!

Hello all! I hope you all had a wonderful Easter. We spent the day with family and ate way too much.

Last night I posted my first challenge as the leader of the Calendar group over at Ch{all}enge Masters. Here it is:

To me, March means the beginning of spring and St. Patrick's Day, so, with that in mind, your challenge for April is to create a layout for your calendar using the color green and it must have a plant on it. The plant may be a die cut, part of the pattern in your patterned paper. a paper flower, or even a real pressed flower. Be creative! Below is my example (forgive the picture quality, I am still trying to figure out the best way to take photos of my layouts using our new camera).

Last Card

Well, it is the last day of Lent and I have made a total of 45 cards. Here is my last card. I used the sketch from 2 Sketches 4 You this week again.

Winding Down

Well, it is Holy Week which means my last week of daily card making. It has been a busy week, but I am finally caught up.




Here are a couple of cards I made earlier this week. Both of them I just pulled extra pieces I had cut with my Cricut and added some scraps stamping. For the "Celebrate" card I heat embossed the swirls on the background paper with clear embossing powder, an idea I got when my mother-in-law showed me some cards she was working on. Isn't it subtle but pretty?



I made this one on Tuesday using an embellishment I've had sitting in a package for about a year. I decided it was time to just use it. I also pulled out scraps for the rest and added a few Rusty Pickle buttons for a finishing touch.




These cards I made today. The top one I used a set of stamps I bought last week. They are made by Inkadinkadoo. They are so pretty and very versatile for religious cards. Again, the paper is all scraps. The last card was a very quick card using some scraps.

For all of the cards in today's post, I simply pulled out all of my scraps of one color and pulled out a few that coordinated and went to work putting them together. I find this a great strategy for seeing what I have and using it up!
