Sketches

I love using sketches for a jumping off point when I am making cards and scrapbook pages. Today I visited 2 Sketches 4 You for the sketch for my daily card. Here is the sketch I used:

Catching Up

Well, I've had a busy couple of days so I have spent today trying to catch up . The first two cards today I made on Tuesday. The first is a birthday card I made for my dad (his birthday was Wednesday). To make the buttons I cut out the patterned paper circles using my Creative Memories circle cutter. Then I traced them on chipboard and cut them out with a scissors. After adhering the paper to the chipboard I punched the holes with my Crop-a-Dile. I inked the edges for a finished look. Finally I popped them up on the card with foam adhesive.

The next card (Hi) I made for the "A Year in Cards" class at Two Peas in a Bucket. I'm not totally satisfied with how the "rock and roll" technique turned out on it, but I think the colors just weren't close enough in color. Live and learn, right?

The last three cards I made today for my Lenten project. I used up scraps for all of them. For the "Thinking of You" card I had made a row of eyelets on the bottom but it was super crooked so I covered it with the twill tape. Much better! For the other two I used up some die cuts I had laying around from my Cricut. Hooray for scraps!

Stamping Fun

Another day, another card and another challenge done. This one was for the March Stamping Challenge at Challenge Masters. The challenge was to stamp an image and then "fussy cut" it out and put it on a project. I love to use this technique because 1- I can use up more of my scraps and 2- if I screw up when I'm stamping I haven't ruined my entire project. It is a great technique for those who are just starting to stamp. For this card I used a Stampin' Up! set called "Pines."

We didn't have anything planned for today so I have gotten in a pretty good amount of scrapping time. I started by completing this card. I was inspired by the March Technique Challenge at Challenge Masters which is to use punch art. I don't have very many punches (4 total- 2 border and 2 shape) so I was very limited in what I could do. I thought this card turned out pretty festive though and I used some more scraps- Yay!

I have also been working on an Easter layout from last year, but I cannot share that as I plan to submit it for a e-zine call.

One Hour Challenge

Whew! I just finished a contest on Challenge Masters where we had to scraplift a layout in one hour! I am a pretty slow scrapper, so this really pushed me to move it and make quick decisions. The first layout was our inspiration created by Audrey Yeager.





The second is the layout I created. I used photos from a night out at the local dinner theatre. I was able to include the tickets on the layout and the program is tucked in a pocket I created between the top pick paper and the background black paper.

More Cards

Today I have a few more cards to share. The first two photos are of a card my 3-year-old made for our friends' son who turns 1 on Wednesday and is having a birthday party later today. Ellie loves to stamp and use my supplies so I think she had a blast making that card!

Next is the card I made for our friends' son. I used my Cricut and the "New Arrival" cartridge, which has been out for a while, but I just bought last Black Friday. There are so many cute images on that cartridge, it is so much fun!!

Last is my card for the troops for today. I used the scraps from the first card to make this one. (I love using up my paper, I feel like I got my money's worth then!) For this card I used the "Zooballoo" cartridge which also has a lot of adorable images.

My Lenten Project

Each of the last three years I have decided to use my papercrafting skills to help others and have made cards which I have donated to the organization Operation Write Home. They send the cards to the troops overseas so they have handmade cards to send home to their families for various occasions. I will try to upload my creations for the remainder of the season. Here are two that I did yesterday and today.

The first card was for the March Color Challenge at Ch(all)enge Masters. I thought the colors were great for a masculine card, which I often struggle to do because I love pink and flowers and all things girly.

The second one was for the March Ad/Art Challenge at Ch(all)enge Masters. The inspiration piece was "Vase with 12 Sunflowers" by Vincent Van Gogh. I was drawn to the texture in the brush strokes so I tried to add texture to my card using mulberry paper, ink, and leftover paper that I used to make "serendipity squares".
